So I see in the Forscan wiki something about the Navigation. Does this mean it is able to be added to a vehicle that did not come with it just by changing a few things?

Navigation in Motion! Thank God! (911 assist will be disabled)
Speed limit sign will look European and FM radio stations will have and extra number like 102.70 instead of 102.7

By default the NA spec navigation system will not allow you to search or input new address information via the screen key press unless the vehicle is stopped. What this setting does is allow you to search or update new addresses into the Sync navigation while the vehicle is moving.

I tried setting this on mine but it broke the Sirius system and couldnt pinpoint the location in the nav system so I reverted back. But then this happend on Sync 3.4 build 20021 with F9 maps 1.19 so there may be some compatibility issues with the enabling Navigation in Motion on that build for a NA spec system.

Gotcha, now i have a better understanding. And to make sure I would have to get a different apim in order to get navigation correct?

Yes, any APIM from a SYNC3 Nav equipped Ford or Lincoln will work, you'd need a Gen 3 SYNC3 to keep Ford Pass.

My early 2016 APIM does have a timing issue with Sync 3.4/NA119 and will display a Navigation Fault, please visit your dealer message if I don't give the APIM enough time to initialize between unlocking the doors and starting the engine but clear the message and Nav wotks perfectly.

Did get some GPS signal issues, an aftermarket GPS antenna under the center speaker cover solved those.

Have been unable to back 3.4 out of it. Oldest I can find from Ford is 1.17 and the install fails with a messageless crash and reboot. Even asked local Ford dealer to flash the firmware, their answer was to revert the APIM back to non-nav with as built h/w and s/w.

Might go hunting a used Gen3 APIM, Problem is finding one!!
