The paint is my concern, it may chip.. If it were extruded in color much better. I worked for a company that made BSM in the 80's and it was all extruded in color.

Well, took a scrap piece...
Can't file it, can't sand it...its hard vinyl....leaves an unfinished look that's worse than the straight cut end. Can't cut it at a bevel angle as it mis-shapes the end. Tried shaving the edge with a razor...can be done but hard to get a clean, matching bevel edge. Think trying to sand/file/cut a piece of hard rubber compound from a tire.
Just going to leave it as is, straight cut...if it prevents paint chips or a single dent, then it's doing it's job. I'll live with it.

Question Steve, they do have some that is not painted maybe yours is not painted. I would want mine Oxford White so it would have to be painted.

Stuff I got is just a generic black that you cut to your own lengths.
The items listed by other members is either painted or color is molded in, and is pre cut to length for each panel. If you want paint match then that's the way to go.
Don't know if the generic stuff I bought can be painted...very hard to get paint to adhere to vinyl...think painting smooth, hard rubber.
As you said, the better extruded products come with the color impregnated.

Biggest info...don't over think this. Did mine freehand, but I've been tape striping cars for years and painting stripes on motorcycles for years n years.
Molding is held on with 3M tape and even if you screw up putting the molding on, you can remove it, take the original tape off and re-apply new...3M tape is sold at just about every auto store and Amazon.
Easiest way to get a straight line up is to clean the area with some alcohol and use blue painters tape as a guide....just run it down the length of the vehicle and use the edge as a guide.

It actually looks really nice. Don't know how you got it to look straight. If I did it it would be more of a diagonal lol.

RE: the cut edge

I have had success in the past using a heat gun to fix the cut end , but it all depends on how bad or good the initial cut and re-work was.
with vinyl, its a multi step process to finish it nice.
rough cut, shape it, polish it, heat it....it all takes time and effort and inexperience leads to some oh shits as you learn how the material reacts to your inputs. I'm sure different brands of vinyl will all have different results.

I was going to mention the same thing because that's what others do with lexan

Got passenger side done.
Done and Done...leaving straight cut edge...tried the heat/melt on scrap piece...way to many problems trying to get 16 edges the same profile.

Since Ford saw fit not to provide side molding or even accessory molding for the Sup Cab, made my own.
Between parking lot perverts and upcoming camping trips, felt the need for them.
2 inch wide from Cowles via Amazon....
Just drivers side for today.
