When mine was new saying first 5000 miles i showed the best mileage, i was driving illinois to ohio not pulling anything no bed load i would get 28 mpg , i never ran over 70 mph, now with 20K on it i dont ever show over 23mpg
Interesting, better mileage before it is broken in. Any mods inbetween there. Some on them can be mileage killers.

This time of year with temp swings, winter gas and newer trucks it all adds up to your mileage may vary greatly! During the summer months breaking in most of our rigs will be over and realistic numbers will show. Iā€™m thinking mid teens for towing normal loads
I've never seen anywhere near a 30% swing on any of my vehicles because of seasons. Why is someone getting 28mpg highway and someone else 22mpg highway, Both empty, both summertime, both saying they drive easy? Somebody pulling a 6500 25 foot TT reports getting 18mpg and I with my 18 foot 4000 pound TT can barely get 12.5mpg. Why such a Range?

Check back in a couple weeks, too much variability from week to week to be a good test.

There are a lot of good points here. I have a new tent trailer that I have not towed yet so the jury is out on my mileage towing my trailer. I only have 1900 miles yet and with the crappy winter gas and crappy weather and all short trips I am only getting 17 mpg. I just got my truck in late September. No road trips yet. I should go see my buddy in Grants Pass. I sure like it down there except in the summer when there are forest fires.

Wind resistance at highway speeds will kill mileage more than anything. My RV is right at the maximum 55sqft frontal area (weighs about 5500lbs loaded). At 65mph, I get 8mpg. Slow to 60 and it gets 9.5. Had a 20mph tailwind for an entire drive once and got 13mpg at 65mph.
