Motorcraft spark plugs pre-gapped at .025"?

I received a set of Motorcraft spark plugs from RockAuto that I'm planning to install today. Part # SP-594 or CYFS-12Y-RTS, Iridium. I have confirmed these are the correct ones. Everything I read states the Motorcraft plugs are pre-gapped and ready to go. However, I have checked each one, and they are gapped at .025".

From my understanding, they should be from .027" to .035". Has something changed that I'm not aware of or should I set them to recommended gap settings?

I would gap them to .030" (shop manual says .0295").

I wouldn't trust that for accuracy. A round wire gauge gives the best accuracy.

.030 but if you have aftermarket coils like MSD packs than .035

darn, I was going to suggest a brick and a chunk of a 2x4.

I'm now curious, as I work in an auto parts store, I think I'll go raid our shelves and measure the gap of a samplings of SP594's

And the verdict is in... I opened a 4-pack of sp-594 plus, and all 4 appear to be gapped to .029

I just measured mine i ordered with the coin thingy. Two at .031 and the other two at .030

Wild... I triple checked mine. All four plugs were .025"

Installed mine as they were pre gapped. Install was straight forward.

Here are the oem ones with 55k miles.
