Mecum Auction 2021

A few pictures from the Mecum auction today. The big toys go up for bid tomorrow which are the Saleen and the Ferrari's. The 2016 Ferrari 12TFD with 449 miles and owned by Rodger Penske is estimated to go for $900,000-$1,000,000.

I love seeing these cars, but even if I had enough money to purchase one, I can't imagine spending a million plus on a car - one that you most likely won't ever drive. I don't own vehicles to look at - they are intended to be driven.

Hi Dave,

I was part of the Saleen team as Ford rep during the time Saleen develope the S7. The car was designed by Ray Mallock, a Brit of excellent talent in designing Road and Racecars. The Mallock Clubman was a very unique car with mid engine but the driver in the rear of the car. As an SCCA racer at the time, It was always fun to watch the Mallock's duke it out with their Cosworth BDA engines, Radiator was in the rear next to the driver in the right hand side of the car.

Saleen failed to produce the required 50 cars at the time and fell out of homologation for their class. Steve promised me a drive in an S7, but alas....times changed and it never happened.

The Ferrari going up tomorrow is owned by Rodger Penske and only has 449 miles on it. I can imagine how many others he has like this? I agree it would be tough to just let them sit there and not drive them.

That would've been a dream come true to be able to get a ride in one! Must of been great just to be able to work on the Saleen team though. We're going back tomorrow to see the main attraction big cars. It's always fun to watch if there's a bidding war going on.
