Hi Dave,

I was part of the Saleen team as Ford rep during the time Saleen develope the S7. The car was designed by Ray Mallock, a Brit of excellent talent in designing Road and Racecars. The Mallock Clubman was a very unique car with mid engine but the driver in the rear of the car. As an SCCA racer at the time, It was always fun to watch the Mallock's duke it out with their Cosworth BDA engines, Radiator was in the rear next to the driver in the right hand side of the car.

Saleen failed to produce the required 50 cars at the time and fell out of homologation for their class. Steve promised me a drive in an S7, but alas....times changed and it never happened.

Here is a pix of the Clubman...

Phil, that looks like the blue guard rails of Watkins Glen? Or am I mistaken? I'm 2 hours south and have been there at least once a year for all 31 years of my existence. 3 weeks from now I'll be there for opening weekend with my dad and my mustang.

@AzScorpion Dave, I'm super jealous. I've wanted to get to an event like this for years with my dad. Pretty sure it was Eleanor that started my love affair with mustangs. My wife and I ran into this clone a couple years ago at a Watkins Glen winery. I couldn't give two hoots about the wine or remember what it tasted like

Hi Jake,

I really do not know where this picture of a Mallock Clubman was taken...most likely Canada or the UK....

Elenor was at Mecum 2 years ago and I was surprised to see it again this year. I didn't see it go up for auction so I have no idea what it sold for. I'm lucky as the stadium is only 15 minutes from me and I get free sponsor passes for the event. Barrett Jackson is going on right now in Scottsdale but we're not going to that one. You should check out and see if there are any east coast events close by, it's really fun to see all these old vintage cars and trucks.

Wow! Lots of memories there! My grandmother had the 61 T bird, dad had a 55 bel air and I had a 68 SS 396 with cowl induction and posi rear end. Hard top though. Man those were the days and if we only still had all those rides!!!

Also raced a lotus Europa at Watkins Glenn back in 74

I know BJ does a couple on the East Coast, I'll just have to look into it. I wasn't sure with covid how these events would be impacted, but looks like it's doable. Watching Scottsdale has become a bit of a family tradition. The old man and I will likely be holed up in my garage with the flat screen and a case of cold ones all weekend ha.

You're right a lot of memories there, now I really feel old! Most of our high school student parking lot was full of these muscle cars from Mustang, Camaro, Firebirds and Chevelle. Funny because non of them drove all that great but were a rocket in a straight line. lol
