Had to go check my lugs, 2020 lariat with the upgraded 18" wheels. Hard to see the nuts since they sit farther into the wheel.

I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Haven't had any issues so far.

I bought a set of black lugs. Just haven't gotten around to see how they would look on my steelies.

Black one-piece lug nuts was probably the cheapest cosmetic improvement I made on the Ranger. Could not believe how much better they look. Even the wife took notice, and she's usually pretty clueless. Those stupid OEM nuts were the only chrome previously on the truck. Stupid. And these will last the life of the truck hopefully.

They are about 4 3/8" long.

I put those on my '21 XLT only when I race in the Circus Maximus . :like:

I picked up some of the black ones linked in this thread. Also picked up a set for my wife's Maverick. I'll refrain from using an impact on them for now and we'll see how long they hold up on the finish.

I installed those exact black lug nuts on my 2022 with steel wheels. After installing them, the black plastic hub caps were loose because the flat land area of the black lug nuts is longer than factory allowing the hub cap to shuck. The hub caps will not come off but they are loose as seen here:

Is the OEM taper longer with less shoulder ?

The taper is the same. It is the shoulder length. The longer length doesn't hold the hubcap tight like OEM. The hubcaps can't come off (so far) but as you see in the video, there is some shucking.
