That does sound like fun, officially on the bucket list inside my warped mind.

After parking in East-Be-Geezez...I came out to this :headbang::

The Ranger looks so much better than the pile of trash on the back side of it. AZScorpion, I borrowed that from your earlier post. Lol

I hope you make it up there!

The road in is a piece of cake. Well groomed dirt/gravel, with some tight hairpins, steep slopes to one side or the other, but overall easy enough that there were people doing it in minivans and front-wheel drive low-slung sedans. As for elevation: Silver City itself sits at around 6200', the surrounding peaks are only up to around 8000'. We had no problems at all, though I did notice while out of the truck and exploring around the area a bit that I got winded a little easier than usual... but the effect was quite mild.

If you go the back way out through Jordan Valley, I recommend airing down. That route is not passable by your minivans and sedans, so there is next to no traffic on that trail. There is some really neat old discarded mining equipment and buildings along that trail out that are imho worth the drive. The road itself is still mostly pretty well maintained dirt/gravel, but has some pretty good dips and some rocks to make it a bit more sporty. It's a narrow trail as well. Be careful on the blind corners.

Both the easier way in and the harder way out are **COMPLETELY** impassable in the winter. I think from mid-july through the end of Sept is sort of the sweet spot for road conditions.

2 years ago we tried to get up there going in from the Oregon side in the middle of June, and there was still 2+ feet of snow at the highest point of the road, about 3 miles short of Silver City. We were forced to turn around that time. It's best to try it in the late summer.

From the Boise area, expect 5-6 hours all-in for a round trip loop, including about 2 hrs up in Silver City for lunch and some exploring on foot. There's lots of cool old stuff to see up there. Well worth the trip.
Thanks for the great info. Might be just a trip for me as those elevations definitely bother my wife. She loves the old towns too.

Beautiful day for a bike ride. Came back to trail head to find this. I guess he just wanted to hang out with a really good looking truck.

Oh man, where the hell was that app when I was training all those years? Oh wait, there were no smart phones back then, just big bulky Garmin handlebar mounted devices. :(

Bike technology has certainly advanced over the years. I thought my first Garmin was high tech stuff. At that time I was reaching down to the down tube to push those levers to shift. Now shifting is electronic, brakes are disks, frames are carbon fiber, phone apps have very good GPS signals and can gather data about your ride. Distance, speed, time, elevation changes, cadence, etc. I like this Relive app, I just think the little videos are cool.
So far I have avoided the Ebike thing. I am still providing all the go power. At 74 I hope to continue for a few more years. 🙂

Next to a 2025 Ranger Raptor…

IMG_5648.jpeg

I drove down to the house this morning to check on things and cut the grass. On the way through Wingham, I saw a white Ranger Raptor, so on the way back, I had to stop and get a pic.

Normally, I’m not a fan of the graphics package but on white, it seems to work.

While I was drooling over the Raptor, this super fun F100 rolled into the dealer lot. How could I not move my truck and get a pic next to it?

Is this some sort of rhino lining coating? Or just bad orange peel lol?
Yeah, it's some sort of rhino lining or bed coating material of some kind. I've seen it done on some trucks here in the North Texas area.

My Ranger next to Dads house and my old F-150, before joining Ranger 5g.
