When I purchase a 6G Ranger I am thinking about Line X'ing some of the Under Carriage.
Most under coating cause problems in the future. It lift's, rust get's underneath. You can't see it. It becomes worse then if you just washed the Salt off in the Winter Seasons.

I would imagine that would become quite pricey. Line-X is not easy to apply in small, tight spaces.

This sounds like a horrible idea. Only the antiquated rubberized products have problems with hidden rust beneath the undercoating, and I would expect similar results from any of the spray-on bedliner products. Any of the undercoating products based on oil and/or wax, like NH Oil Undercoating or Krown, or the lanolin-based Fluid Film, are far superior to the old rubber stuff. All of them need periodic renewal, usually annually.

Treat the rusty areas with something like Rust-Oleum Rust Dissolver Spray Gel, then coat the area with zinc oxide primer. After that apply a thick coat of black paint.

I've had that happen on my other cars. Its pretty standard when the cities use panic quantities of salt on the roads. Clean thoroughly with brake cleaner then apply "Rust converting primer". Followup with Spray on bedliner or undercoat spray.

If you’re going to put the effort in use the right paint. POR-15 RUST PREVENTIVE COATING
Three step process must be good. I think its worth the effort to put it on the known vulnerable areas for rust. I would apply this on a brand new truck. Then wash the salt off in the Winter months. Wish to keep my next Ranger for 10 years plus hopefully.

I would just spray the entire bottom of the truck with Fluid Film. That's the only product I've seen that actually prevents rust and stops current rust

I will see if a yearly spray on is offered in my area. I think the regular washing of the undercarriage makes sense. Would like to coat the Truck from the get go with the right product.
