I have the Lomax tonneau cover on my Ranger and wanted some lighting for when the cover is closed. I bought some LED strip lights from Amazon that use 4 AA batteries. I modified the power box to add a small toggle switch in lieu of the cheap slide switch. Even added labels.....

The LED strip has an adhesive backing but will not stick well to the bed. I cleaned the area with alcohol and then applied some 3M adhesive promoter to the area. I then laid a strip of the .25 inch 3M automotive double back tape followed by applying the LED light strip to the tape. Its solid secure. I hot glued 2 Harbor Freight ceramic magnets to the power box to install it to the bed sidewall. The LED light strip runs the length of the left sidewall and really illuminates the box area in the dark with the cover down.

Its winter and always looking for projects in my shop....:)

4 AA is 6 volts, you could wire it to the 12v plug in the bed or to the harness for it if you don’t have that plug.

That’s my plan for when my cap comes in.
