So I have an update to my saga with fuel dilution. I posted previously that at my last oil change which was with 3700 mile on the oil was at 6.7% . That was all warm weather driving. Then I retested the new oil at 200 miles and it was 4.9% in the fall. Did another test at 500 miles on the new oil and it was now at 7.9%. Had an appointment at my dealership to address this. My oil level was at or just above the high mark. This was after about 10oz had been removed for the two oil samples. So elevated oil level was my complaint along with the fuel dilution. Ford instructed the dealer to do an oil change, seal the engine and have me put 1000 miles on it to establish a base line. My 1000 miles were up today and I took it in to be checked. After about a half hour the service writer came up and told me that the technician said that the level was high and that the service manager and tech were in contact with Ford to inform them and get direction. I asked him how high on the dipstick it was and he said the tech just said it was high but emphasized “HIGH”. He also told me that the tech was leaning towards a leaky HPFP. They gave me the truck back and said that they should hear back from Ford in the morning with what they want to do. Took the truck home and thought I would check the level myself but they had resealed it so I didn’t touch it.
Stay tuned
P.S I also told them I want a sample of this oil whether they do it or I have to.

They’re going to replace the HPFP. Parts are on order. Obviously they will also change the oil but Ford will not pay to sample it. But they will grab a sample of it for me if I provide the container.

I've been in the same boat for a bit with high percentages.

I worked with my dealer recently to have my radiator thermostat replaced under warranty. My engine was never getting past 85C during operation, and you could see it start to level off in the high 70s. The thermostat is only supposed to start opening at 92C according to the maintenance manual, so I told them that I think it's defective and what might be causing my fuel to dilute, since the heavier fuel compounds won't evaporate until you are into the 90s C. I just had this changed, so I plan to test later this month
I monitored my temps on a 40+ mile drive earlier this week. Used my OBD link app on my IPhone. So it was a 60f/15c day and the vast majority of the drive was 45-50mph tops. Equal slow and highway amounts. It ran at 195.8f /91c for 80+% of the drive. When slowing down it would drop to 194f/90c. When at a stop it would go up to 197.6/92c. Did see 197.6/92c on the highway ( 70mph). And once I briefly saw 199.4/93c on a short incline on the highway. I just keep thinking about your statement that the heavier fuel compounds not evaporating until into the 90C’s and how I was barely reaching into that. I know it’s not my issue with fuel but makes me wonder how close to the edge these things are.

So, after replacing, my temps are about the Same as what you are getting. Sounds like yours is working correctly. I am going to drive for a month now and do an oil sample to see where I'm sitting.

There is a reason I dont tested. Ignorance is bliss. Mine could be 20% for all I know but it runs good and sounds normal.
Been avoiding this for that same reason. Since getting an engine replaced at 50k miles though, the thought has crossed my mind. In the meantime, I just watch oil pressure and the catch can stays pretty low every 5k oil change.

I have 20k miles on the Ford reman. engine, thinking in the summer I might switch to 3000 mile full synthetic rather than 5k though. I only go to Ford for oil changes should anything happen otherwise I wish I had Amsoil or Royal Purple in it.
