This morning, I dropped Ranger off at the shop I often use. His only experience with the T5 Rangers is with mine so far. This was brand new to him - wondering what normal shop hours should be, including alignment. Thanks.

If he’s a decent mechanic and it’s his first time I figure 2.5 hours. His hourly rate is what I can only guess at as well. So let’s say $300 for labor

Hoping you're right but he's already stated 6 hours minimum plus alignment. Currently reading other threads here on 5g about this very subject. Prices from ridiculously cheap to ridiculously expensive - prices usually include lift/leveling.

When I had the stock rear shocks replaced with Eibachs (which I had bought online) at a small shop down the road from where I work, it only took a few minutes so he charged me $25.

If you are having the struts replaced with something like a bilstein that requires swapping of the springs I would use 4hrs as a good average. Plus alignment, actual numbers will vary per area and shop rates.

My install was quoted $100 each for the fronts, $35 each for the rears, $70 for the alignment - OTD $347.

I was quoted by several people around 300-400 just for install of the fronts, not including alignment...i opted to do them myself.

Did they give you a quote for the work? I always try to avoid having to go back to the shop after the work is done and say, “so what do I owe you?”. I learned that lesson the hard way many years ago

In my location, front and rears with an alignment was about $450, as I recall. I had to go to a tire shop for the alignment.

Picked up Ranger a short while ago, now at home. It's almost like driving a completely different mid size truck - noticeably better! Ranger just feels different, in a very good way. Here is the final breakdown:

Bilstein 4600 rear shocks - front struts: $390

Labor: $588

4 Wheel Alignment: $90

Labor Discount: -$83

Total: $985

*************************

Note: Seeking a refund of $180 from S&D Truck Springs for the non receipt of the prepaid Bilsten rear shocks - back ordered from November. I ended up buying replacements from Summit Racing last week - received Saturday 3/19. Wishing I had dealt with Summit the first time.

This basic modification is HIGHLY recommended - well worth the money IMO. Why Ford didn't put decent shocks on Ranger from the factory is incomprehensible.

I just last week had my BDS leveling kit installed and an alignment. $554 out the door.

Was just quoted for a Bilstein 5100 install and alignment from an off road specialty shop.

2 hours for all 4 shocks, $150/hr, alignment $150. I was figuring closer to 4 hours labor. Guess I'll believe it when I see it..

My guess is they call half way through and say they made a mistake, but my fingers are crossed for you!

Mine was $750 with four new tires mount/balance/alignment. The whole front end has to come apart. The back you can do yourself.

Agree with S3 above they're gonna call and say it's a bigger job than we thought.

It would depend on method they use.
If they do the disconnect LCA from the frame it only takes 1/4 of the time. A total of 7 bolts . 2 bolts for the LCA to strut, 2 for LCA to frame, one for tie rod end to spindle , and 3 for the coilover top hat to frame...I have done it both ways....the disconnect everything to get the spindle out of the way is a total pain in the ass and risks CV end bearing disconnect and damage...
.

I will be paying extra attention to my installation then. Good so far....
