In the process of removing the lower ball joint. Tried putting a aluminum block underneath and hitting it with a dead blow hammer, also tried banging on the cast-iron tapered area to see if the shock of it would pop it off. I can do go to AutoZone and get a ball joint puller but last time I was there they had at least six different ones and trying to figure out which one to go borrow. Thank you very much for your help and advice.

CANCEL request……………… went back out and beat on it some more with a dead blow hammer against the cast-iron tapered area and it popped right off. Thank you.

I've used the one like the one shown for years on several different vehicles. Hammer the notched jaw under the grease boot around the stud and tighten the bolt to force the lower jaw up. Ball joint pops out of the taper.

Even though the Ranger is jacked up high enough, I was in the awkward position that I could not hit the cast-iron taper part hard enough……. Had…. 3.5” Fox 2.5. Going to BDS 6-8” Fox 2.5 and 40’s.
