Update. Ford confirmed today there is a problem with the mount and we are now waiting on parts. 10k miles on mount for reference.

Picked the truck up tonight. The mount was bad. New mount installed and zero noise. No one could explain the issue. They fought me at first telling me it was all kinds of crap…exhaust, wastegate arm etc. I’m the end though it was indeed the mount. I had to get the shop foreman involved to actually get him to listen with a scope. And when he heard the noise he agreed. The mount had to be sent back to FORD so no way to know what problem it had internally. Now I’ll get back to finishing up the tune and see if the mount did indeed have an influence on knock retard.

Starting to hate this truck. Wot Timing is at 8.5. Even with 3 gallons of ethanol in the tank I still get knock retard. It is inconsistent. One run it might be cylinder 2 next 3 next 4 etc. there is no logic. I have changed the motor mount under warranty, redid the exhaust which seemed to be fine as it was but did it anyway, checked for rattles etc. changed plugs. Swapped coil positions.

Could the dual port Turbosmart be picked up as knock? I’m on my 16th tune revision and nothing works. The truck runs seemingly well and runs hard but this knock retard is getting on my last nerve.

Sometimes it’s -1. Sometimes it’s -4. No rhyme or reason.

I’m at my wits end.

If you are logging negative knock retard values that means the ECU is advancing spark not retarding it.

I have a bdx and don’t think I have access to adjust anything. Anyway with as much Torco as I used knock from Timjng should be zero. I’ve lowered timing to below normal 93 timing and the random knock still appears at WOT.
I have the SCT bdx and I'm waiting on my tune from 5*
Is your screen blue or red?
My screen has red on it but on the box it shows the screen having blue and it has blue bolts on the outside.

Unleashed is tuning my truck and he has stated several times that negative values are pulling timing on the bdx device.

Yes, my apologies that particular PID does read reverse from the other timing correction tables. What is the OAR? And what is the tuner saying?

I'm not one to question a qualified tuner, but I've never seen any logic on an EcoBoost ECU where negative knock re

Oar was perfect but now it’s at zero since we just flashed a new revision. Honestly tuner is giving me no insight.

The OAR will reset with a reflash. I would drive it around a bit and see which direction, if any, it trends toward. If you're seeing multiple, repeated instances of timing pulled it should start trending toward +1.

Have you been able to repeat the knock retard on the stock tune?

It ALWAYS trends negative till it gets to -.96. It has never trended positive for OAR. That’s good for sure but doesn’t explain my problem.

I guess I can load the stock tune and see what happens.
