Just purchased new Putco Freedom lightbar

Putco has developed a new light bar product that gives you the option to program a start up, turn signal and break sequences. Lots of high tech put in a light bar. Lots of $$ also. Putco pushed this product out with little published installation and operational instructions. I think I'm the first 5g Ranger owner to get the new bar. It's got a huge octopus-like harness, and a fairly large black box that houses the motherboard to control the beast. Anyway, after spending an hour on the phone with their tech support, I getting ready to do the install, that's more involved than what i had thought. My hope is that they have worked out all of the bugs in the system, so that it plays well with all the Ranger's electronics. I'll post some pics of the bar once I finish the task. Here is a video of the new product working on a Chevy truck, and the snake that came in the package today.

That's pretty fancy, but at $550+ the least that they could do is provide proper installation instructions that don't require you to spend an hour on the phone with their tech support.

Meanwhile on the Asian market they sell them for $25 above cost to make. So they are $30.00

That is a whole lot of nonsense in that harness for what is basically a waterproof ICRBG led strip.

I see a lot of trucks with these type of lights and while I get the desire to make the truck safer - you'd think 'big vehicle, who can't see me?' yet we get rear ended regularly it feels like (why I bought a SuperBumper).

Yeah, the LEDs are far superior to what I often see. DRLs in the rear? Meh. Seizure inducing brake light augmentation? I may be down for that ?. Big bright backup light? That's nice, I know you can buy a cheaper solution on that alone but as part of the other features it's really nicely integrated here. The turn signal bling is almost as pretentious as the startup animation and probably more entertaining/annoying for those following you, I'd tone that down. Distracted drivers are a menace to society and I'd do my part to offend them anyway.

I ordered the Suma replacement rear view mirrors with the integrated turn signal for a little safety boost and while the FREEDOM LIGHT is a little more than double that I think it's just a smidge over the top. Like some of those replacement headlights with animations.

Get some crazy undercarriage lighting to mix with this and you'd be Big Pimpin'

Would I install one if it turned up on my doorstep? Yeah. ?

It would be like the Mother Ship arriving/departing from Close Encounters.

so i noticed the trucks brake and turn lamps didnt do anything in the video just the bar blinked etc. the trucks lights were only running lights. is that how its supposed to be or its a gmc thing?

He was using programming mode to cycle through the options not actually applying the brake, using turn signals, or putting it in reverse.
