If you must do this type of mod I did find a company selling non-animated $100 versions but no clue on durability...

Whelp, I got a Putco front emblem and the directions aren't great.

Putco front badge installation Ford Ranger

I'll work with it.. maybe.

It fits but at least on the Lariat there isn't a hole to route the harness through. Drilling a hole large enough would be somewhat destructive unless I can disassemble the plug to make a small(ish) hole.

Before I started hacking away or just attempting to return the damn thing (beyond the 30 day period) I am reaching out to Putco.

The electrical pigtail comes out of their badge a quarter inch outside and above the mounting posts where there is no holes underneath and while the wiring loom is about a quarter inch in diameter the connector plug is about half an inch wide and I'm not about to start punching holes that big in the grill.

My plan at the moment is to disassemble the plug and feed the wiring through a carefully located hole or holes then put it back together.

Pics for progress:

The response I got from Putco was something like 'it appears your model does not have the holes to run the harness we'll notify our web team to update that information'...

Am I to believe I'm the first 5G Lariat owner to attempt to bring my Ranger with their product?

Thus far I've been sort of cheap about most styling touches - the Magnaflow Exhaust (not cheap but I got a deal I felt), Putco lower valance grill, LED turn signal bulbs in the headlights, rear mirrors with smoked lenses and front fender blackout side markers. I got inserts for the 'RANGER' front grill (TYD vinyl) and tailgate (Putco) and ceramic solar tint on the windows. I took off the Ecoboost badge on the tailgate (looked dumb) and got the AVS hood guard (because hood chips made me sad) and Bushwhacker door sill guards. I don't think these have been garish and though I did raise the front a smidge I kept the factory alloys.

The grill light was going to be the adolescent touch I was allowing myself and I shopped around and got the closest thing to deal I could. I'm still on the fence but I bet I could mount this and make it work.

I think it would look bitchin' ?

Are you doing the tailgate lighted emblem to match?

I saw the video and conversation here first and had considered it as a brake light enhancement.

At this point I would have to get a fantastic deal on one to do it.

Rather than post in the few other threads that got little traffic specific to the front badge I kept my comments here.

These Putco badges seem to be top quality as they are Ford licensed and handling the unit feels like it's solid.

EDIT: stay tuned, I'm having issues with what should have been a minor mod and simple installation. Reaching out to Putco.

Putco sent me a replacement grill badge so credit to them. After all this is a premium product in design and price although I won't necessarily be using their mounting hardware or instructions. I will likely be putting together a 'plug n play' harness for this install. It's a shame since they sell one for the 6G but not ours.

At the end if this I'd sure entertain a tailgate light up badge as a brake light enhancement but for the cost.

FWIW I now have a tailgate emblem sitting in a box for my truck in the garage. The project(s) have been stalled due to other events and seasonal work eating up my time.

I have an aftermarket DRL dimmer kit and for yucks wanted to see if these emblems could be dimmed. They can, and now I'm considering how to integrate the effect into these.
