Hello All,

I just bought a 2022 Ford Ranger and want to install a Putco lightbar under the tailgate. I have looked at the installation guide and it says to mount it to the plastic about 1" up from where the plastic mold turns 90 degrees up. There is plenty of clearance in the middle 2 feet of the bumper, but the mold seems to curl in towards the edges and it looks like there wouldn't be any clearance.

Anyone run into this problem? What was your solution. I can't find any good installation videos showing how to avoid this.

Thanks.

I have same issue as you do nitenitesucka. My tailgate actually touches the black bumper at the bedside ends. I have been seeking a solution myself. I bought my truck new in 2021. I took it to the dealership body shop and they were not able to fix the issue.

I have an idea but have not attempted it yet. I am considering pop-riveting some aluminium angle to the back side of the black plastiic using black rivets. Also lower the license plate so the light bar could be mounted little lower to clear the tailgate when it is open,
