Degree in Emergency Medical Managment, was a career FF/Paramedic for about 7 years...or what I thought would be a career until a lay off...Joined the Army a little late in life. Currently a Critical Care Flight Paramedic for the Army fulltime and a contract flight paramedic locally.

Active duty Army... my job??? Well, that’s a secret (at least that’s what my recruiter told me a long time ago... “you’ll be doing some James Bond type stuff”) ?
Thanks for your Service..

I have seen those videos, they are some well trained and definitely brave workers.

As a young electrician I saw a utility guy with high voltage gloves on, hold his kliens near a 13,800 volt line and draw an ark to see that it was hot. I was impressed. Not something I was going to try. I was an Inside construction wire man, and later more of an automation electrician and high voltage was not my thing. Better left to some one that knew what they were doing. Plus as an apprentice I spent a couple of months helping an older lineman. His advice to me was "boy, don't ever let anyone teach you to climb poles" I took his advice.:)
I am retired from truck driving. My second job was driving an end dump semi, and if it could be dumped on the ground we could haul it. Sand, corn, rock, scrap metal, coal, you name it. One trip, I was hauling petroleum coke to a coal fired power plant in Cedar Falls, Iowa before dawn. Their coal yard had the main trunk lines running over it and I raised the box to within about three feet, and .... B-B-B-B-BOOM!! The 67 kilovolt line arced to my aluminum trailer boring a fist-sized hole in the nose, continued down through the chassis and out through the steel belts of the tires. I looked out my mirrors and saw a blazing fireworks show as 12 of the 18 tires blew out from the heat of the arc. the power company sent a crew out to inspect the line before restoring power - no damage,
They relocated our dumping area the same day!

You got to see first hand just what high voltage can do. You were lucky to survive!

Lots of Vets frequent this board. Love it. Thank you all for your service!!

I am a Materials/Purchasing Manager for an automotive supplier. Been here for 23+ years. We have several parts on the truck we are all driving so that is cool. We do a variety of small engine/trans/axle components.

YEP. As I remained in the cab, I was part of the circuit; just like how birds can perch on a power line without getting electrocuted. But had I panicked and jumped out of the cab...

I don't do any large new homes anymore since I moved out here and now semi-retired. Here's a couple before and after pics of a small job I just finished yesterday. I like doing these jobs where you can see a total transformation rather than a boring repaint.

The finish on the exterior side of the front door was all broke down from the sun and heat here and she wanted to just paint it black now. The inside of it was to match the trim and the bath vanity was going black too. The biggest PITA is all the prep work sanding, washing and priming it took 3 days from start to finish.

Chef for 24 years. Retired to the glue factory... literally. I make OSI and LePage Quad and Quad Max. sweetest job ever no BS to deal with, you work 8 hours and go home. It's sad I get paid more per hour now.

humble occupation compared to some of you. Thanks for serving to all the vets.

As a young electrician I worked construction, IBEW LU 369. I spent some time with brick layers installing conduit for you guys to embed in your brick work, for flush receptacles and switches. Brings back some old memories. I wish you well in retirement. I highly recommend it.
