I don’t understand why Azure costs an extra thousand bucks and why do automakers continue to get away with such a steep destination charge? Most dealers are tracking on another 500-1k for “administrative” or “processing” fees too. They tried making me pay $300 for laxer etching on the windows…. I checked the windows and they weren’t laser etched. Just bad business. You can’t honestly tell me it costs ford more than a couple hundred bucks (if even that) to deliver a vehicle stateside since they transport them in a methodical delivery path with several vehicles at once. Just another way to flex the capitalistic mind and squeeze that much more out of the little guy. I’m not jaded.
It's the flake.

Same reason white Platinum Metallic or any other "premium" color costs more.

So that explains about $3-5 per quart of paint. Not sure why it’s an extra grand though.

I'll be the first to love some of those special colors. But... I'll be the last to ever pay an extra dime for a color. No matter how much I may like it, I'll move on to a color with no upcharge.

Just me. No right or wrong on this subject.

Process.

It's been like that for decades.

Don't want to pay it, buy a different color.

There are many things to bitch about when buying a new vehicle. This is not really one of them IMHO. ADMs and other dealership shenanigans like the doc fees you mentioned are a bigger problem.

Have you priced automotive paint lately? Those "fancy" colors are ridiculously expensive (I would bet money it is a LOT more than $3-$5/quart). Plus they are much harder to apply correctly - the upcharges make sense to me.

I put a custom order in for a 23 back a few days ago. Only features missing are auto stop/start and the hotspot
Ha, same for me for my '22, no ASS but I did get the hotspot - although I don't see much benefit for the hotspot. I have that ancient non-touch screen console and the Ford App remote start isn't reliable for me, so I added a Start-X that I absolutely love.

Good luck and I hope your wait isn't terribly long (because that can have a negative impact on your finances - the longer the wait, the more accessories you line up to buy that @AzScorpion can brainwash you into buying!). =D

I put an order in for a Tremor yesterday. Anyone know how long it takes to arrive? I had to cancel my bronco order from 2 years ago today so hopefully its quicker than that

At this point I wouldn't think it'll be too long as they are trying to wrap up the 23's to start production of the '24's. So the pressure is on Ford. I think your bigger potential problem is to hope they don't run out of time due to their '24 schedule and your order ends up being canceled. You got your order in right at the deadline for '23's.

Fingers crossed for you!

Appreciate it! How long did it take you to get scheduled after you ordered? looks like we have almost the exact same spec.

10/14 ordered
Got confirmation email from Ford within about 3 hours of placing order with dealer.
12/1 Ford email = 2/6 build date
1/3 Ford email = 2/13 build date
At some point @ mid-Jan status went to "assigned to plant." So at this point my build date is pretty safe.

All in all I have no complaints. I went into this knowing production is a crap shoot in today's world. Feel really fortunate that my build date only moved once, and only by one week.

Kudo's to Ford.

Plus my dealer has been good about ensuring that I've remained in the loop.

Process so far gets an A+ from me.
