Good call, website says total satisfaction guarantee!
[/QUOTE
yes. That’s right. Total satisfaction - not lifetime. Sorry about that.
And it clearly says if your not happy with anything at all, let them know - we’ll make it right.
Well maybe the franchise owner in Langley might want to read that line again before offering you a 150.00 in store credit that doesn’t actually correct the problem.

Years and years ago (like late 80’s) when I got a set of winter tires put on my car at Canadian Tire they didn’t put back my all seasons. I didn’t notice that till I got home to put my tires away in the shed. I went back and the service guy looked at me blankly and said we probably already tossed them into the junk pile so they couldn’t do anything about it. Somehow they thought that was good enough reason and tried to send me on my way. Yeah that didn’t go over too well. They miraculously found my tires pretty quick. I think cause I was in my teens they thought they could get away with some lame excuse. Nope.
at the end of day -it would take less energy and stress if businesses just owned up to mistake and make things Right. (And vice versa when the customer is wrong).

as a fellow Canuck and lower mainland resident I really want to see how they make it right.

Park your truck in front of their shop and make sure all potential customers see and hear your experience... I'd Facebook the crap out of them also...

For everybody climbing all over the install shop, it sounds as though they followed the installation guide for the Prinsu. You cut the trim and only reinstall the front portion. Installing the rest is tricky, not impossible.

I worked in stereo/accessory shops for 20 years. We did not return parts that were cut and removed during the install UNLESS the customer asked us to do so PRIOR to the job. This would happen with classic cars, certain commercial vehicles, and the odd time for no apparent (to me) reason. I can recall times when we would go pull something out of the garbage after the fact. I would not be dumpster diving though.

While unfortunate, it looks like the mistake was the install shop agreeing to return the parts to you after the fact. What is a mistake on the phone worth? $150 in store credit seems like it is not enough. Maybe the same, in some walking around cash is more reasonable.

Ehhh... no ? not trim pieces like this , not with out even a call ? " Hey , Mr X , this is Richard (dick) at the trim shop , we gots a little issue here" I'd be ok with good used ones but if they want to push it , I'll push back ? that's horrible and embarrassing work ...

Have you read the install guide, watched the videos for Ranger? I’ve installed exactly 1. The trim was removed to accommodate drilling several new holes. Then the rack is bolted down. Then the trim is cut…. Most Ranger owners with this rack don’t have all the trim back on.

Are guys asking for the ends of their cut crash bars back? In case they remove the bigger tires, and want to try their hand at welding?

I’m not saying it doesn’t stink. But it sounds like the shop followed the instructions.

Haven't read it , no , doesn't matter , you are sayin the shop followed the instructions, I'm saying if they did , and that's the outcome, they shouldn't have ... looks to me like they said " we can't figure out how to make it look right so we're gona just toss the trim so nobody else can fix it and make us look bad " if a mistake and thrown away , fine , I'll accept used ones since they get cut anyway, and I'll install since you guys couldn't... I really don't see how tossing these can be justified, they already admitted the mistake , just fix the mistake...

It doesn’t matter because it doesn’t support your argument. That’s no way to call people out. You have your opinion and I have mine. The difference is mine is based on facts from the accessory guide and standard practice in the aftermarket installation industry.

Check local listings on if that is standard practice , throwing people's trim away is not standard practice here, not if you want to stay in business , I'd like to see in the guide where it says just trash those pieces if you could show that...

Are we all looking at the same pic ? ? I would need some MAJOR convincing that the cut piece wouldn't fit right back in , I doubt I could be convinced of that... I believe the op said shop admitted they were tossed by mistake, so they should fix their mistake, they should want to fix it ... maybe that is acceptable now , idk ...shouldn't be though ...

The issue isn’t about whether they followed the instructions or not about the install. But based on the discussion the OP had with the shop, they stated they would install them back but reneged afterwards and then offered some cursory credit. That is the issue. Also these are not 50 or 100 dollar replacement parts. If they do cost 1k to get replacements that is way different.
I wasn’t there so I don’t know what was discussed when the OP brought the truck in to get the install done - but if the shop knows the procedure the shop should inform the OP -“ by the way. We cut here and here. Do you want to keep those pieces or install that part back etc….” I wouldn’t have thought to ask that question.
I try to be as informed as I can with any work being done on whatever I can’t do. But I don’t necessarily know if I have asked all the questions or know all the questions to ask is. We have to rely on the shop/ store whatever to inform us on what we don’t know. I know that is a guessing game to some extent but this seems to be a big omission by the shop. Agreed that it may not occur to them to mention and mistakes happen, but at the end of the day this shop said one thing and then did another that costs the OP more than pocket change.
I think someone else here mentioned they put their rear moulding piece back on - so it isn’t uncommon either for some owners to have that. And frankly it just looks incomplete now and I would be mad about it.
Just saying.

I've never worked in a stereo shop. But I have worked on/in people's homes.

There is no way I would throw out something I removed from a customer's property without them knowing about it.

correct, I specifically called and emailed them directly after the install asking if they had them still as the job looked unfinished without them . They said yup no problem come back in a day or two and we will put them on. 4 days later I get an email saying they were accidentally thrown out due to shop error.

i don’t dispute that they did the install incorrectly. The instructions do say to just re-add the front, but we had also agreed to add the rest later that week.

Hey, I get it - the shop should do something. People are climbing all over them like this is some atrocity. Just take a breath, then go back to sharpening your pitchforks.

What do you guys do with all that used oil the shop gives you back? And those brake pads that seem to pile up….
