Everything I have read about their CS, it is outstanding.
Yea i certainly can't complain. I got that cover at a steal under the circumstances all thanks to their CS and warranty.

I've had solid hardtop and tri-folds on previous trucks, so this felt like it could be a bit of a gamble, but overall this cover has been very nice. Checked all the boxes and had the warranty to back it up.

I'm curious if the Ford branded X4s tonneau would come with the same no nonsense 5 year warranty that you get buying the Bak branded one.

That might make the decision a little easier. Slightly cheaper and possibly a better warranty.

My salesman told me he'd hook me up with a deal on a tonneau when I bought my truck, I sent him the part# for the X4s version and he text me back saying $1,149, which was the retail price on their website ?. A day later I gambled on my Amazon deal and it worked out much better.

If I was going to pop for a better looking tonneau, I think I would go for the latest BAK roll up, or the hard fold up, they both are very slick looking.

I'm a fan of the lockable hard cover. Keeps tools and stuff safer, not just outa sight, but can still fold up and put our electric tandem back there.

After the discount on Ford Accessories, price was not that bad. I installed myself and it is actually really good quality. And the Ford logo is kind of nice to have.

Is the OEM Soft Folding Over Rail Design Tonneau Cover for 6.0' Bed worth the extra money? Looking at photos and Ford Tonneau has smooth rounded corners where some cheaper aftermarket covers are just squared off. Decided on Soft Folding type, but not sure if paying double for Ford OEM is worth it.
My 22 came with the Ford Tonneau, and it looks good and seems to be well made. HOWEVER, since there is limited stowage space in the truck, and I have had several of the swing-out units in other trucks, I ordered a swing-out unit to hold what I need to carry for my new truck. After installing it, much to my chagrin, I found out...the Ford Tonneau has handles that hit the top of said unit and will not allow the Tonneau to close....#R$^&&&* lol. So, had to uninstall and send it back. Pretty easy though, as Ford had the necessary pre-drilled holes in place.

I bought a Gator SFX for like $240 (actually directly from them on sale, just checked) and it has rounded corners, fits water tight (it took a while to figure out exactly where the instructions said to put some of the smaller sticky foam bits that made a big difference in sealing the bed up between the cab and the bed)

I have no way to compare it directly to the OEM unit, so can't say if they are the same or different.
I can also vouch for the Gator SFX - fantastic soft cover at a steal. I had to switch to a hard cover for my use but I preferred the look and ease of use of the Gator. I actually gave mine to another forum member just so it didn't go to waste sitting in my garage.

My BAK hard rolling X4S broke in the Florida heat over the weekend. I’m kinda shocked it broke. Only had the thing for 6 months or so. It won’t lay flat now because the metal broke where the pieces roll into each other. It’s already causing it to delam now. reached out to Stage3motorsports about it. Hopefully they’ll help me warranty this thing.

My X4s broke exactly like yours. But only after two or three weeks!

I put pics on the forum and they could be identical to yours.

Luckily, I bought direct from Bak and had a new one in a week. They had UPS pick up the old one in the new box. Excellent customer service and less than 5 minutes on the phone.

It's been fine since then, but I do worry about it.

I'll post a link to my post and pics if I can find it ...

This is my second Gator SFX (second truck with one). It does work great at the job assigned. I think the thing I like best is how simple it is to completely remove and reinstall when needed.

I do like the look of the flat units like BAK sells for like 4X the price, much cleaner. If something went wrong with the Gator, it was so cheap, I would feel guilty calling CS. ;)

Being able to take it completely off with no rails or anything left on the truck was one of my favorite things about it too.

Had mine 3 years and it looks/functions great

Keep it clean and don't mistreat it and it will last. A little water gets in but I wasn't expecting it to be waterproof. Overall satisfied for quality/price

Thought it would be good to provide an update on this. Contacted BAK and emailed a couple of photos. They had a tracking #emailed back to me in minutes with a new cover on the way. Very amazing to deal with. Shout out to Stage3motorsports for always being super helpful as well. They sent me all the info needed to contact BAK.

You hear that repeated over and over with that company. Warms the heart to see a well run company, selling a premium product and then backing it up.

Im rolling the dice on a $140 trifold off ebay. Don’t really care about security just weather protection for road trips. Rest of the time is will probably be off. Im ordering it next month so Ill post a review for my fellow cheap (I mean frugal) forum members.

Nothing wrong with cheap - it's all about what you need.

why?

I thought it would be a problem to but I just push it a bit harder and the spring stretches everything tight.

I have ford trifold soft cover. (I ordered my truck with it so I am still paying for it techinically. and the ford driver side swing box. At first I got mad like you, but now I jsut leave room to swing the box out, pop the latch and push the box back. it doesn't become an issue all that often.

Also it comes off so easy. I got asked to help someone move at the last minute. I drove there tookt he cover off, drove back and forth moving heavy furniture around, and put it back on when i was done.

the swing case is locked anyways
