I always buy the MFI Certified cable. In my case the problem with my lightning port isn't the cable as even genuine Apple cables are intermittent. In my phone's case, the problem is the lightning connector on the phone. That is what is intermittent. I just am lucky that the connector on the cable I have in the truck always makes the connection.Apologies if this is from Captain Obvious' keyboard, but always look for MFI or Apple MFI Compatible on the charging cord packaging. These have a chip in the head that has to do with data transfer speed & accuarcy if I understand correctly. The $4.89 cords by checkout counter usually aren't MFI compatible, use for charging only.
Did you ever try cleaning out the lightning port on the phone? Mine collects lots of dust and lint. I use a plastic toothpick to clean it out to keep to connection solid.I always buy the MFI Certified cable. I have and it used to work like a charm (I have wondered if my periodic cleaning of the lint might be at the core of my issues with that connector). Pocket lint would build up so much, it would be hard to snap in the connector (pretty much Levis most days) .Did you ever try cleaning out the lightning port on the phone? I ordered a Belkin cable for my 14 from the Apple site. It does both, so hopefully yours will too.Apple has just offered on its website a a 3-foot USB-A to USB-C cable that might do the trick for CarPlay: “Belkin BOOST↑Charge Pro Flex USB-A to USB-C Cable (1m)”. I have one on order. There don’t seem to be many others like this on line. Doesn’t clearly specify that it can handle data and CarPlay as well as charge, but it is released for the iPhone 15 and the news report I learned about it from said they thought it was primarily of interest to car owners with CarPlay and a vehicle with a USB-A port. https://9to5mac.com/2023/10/04/iphone-15-usb-a-to-usb-c-cable/
We‘ll see.
Update: oh-oh, looks like it might not be MFi-certified. But the Belkin site says it can sync as well as charge. Fingers crossed.
