I have noticed a rattling noise above my head in the cab. Almost like there is some loose wire or material slapping around on rough terrain. Anyone else experience this?

Each Ranger, as it leaves the factory, has a dedicated Gnome assigned to it.
There sole purpose is to annoy you by intermittently running around , under the dash, behind panels, jumping up and down, thus causing weird and unaccountable noises.
They are extremely adept at hiding thus no service guy or mechanic can or ever has, found one.
The more you complain , the more they will annoy you.
Easiest way to keep them happy and quiet is to occasionally leave a half can of beer and a partially eaten hot dog or brat in the passenger side floor. Once every 3-4 weeks is plenty.

My rattle is the passenger side seat belt, when it is retracted, it gets cocked sideway and rattles against the pillar. I have to reach over and straighten it anytime someone has been in the seat and then vacated, or I get a loud banging rattle. That is all... :)

I had a HORRIBLE high pitched rattle, like a cricket chirpping, that I could NOT figure out where it was coming from. It ended up being a loose bolt that mounted the mirror to the door.

Of course, I didn't find it until I put in my tow mirrors.

Sounds lame, but my wife is notorious for not seating the visor all the way in the clip. First time, it took me a few minutes to figure it out.

My seat belt mounts made noise. I unbolted them and put O-rings behind them to take out the slop. The rear door seal on my super cab made a sort of light tapping sound next to my hear that I fixed with a little silicone grease.

I had a similar rattle coming from the sunglasses holder area. Pulled the panel assembly out and discovered that there both small screws had fallen out. The dome lights and sunglass holder assembly are held in the bezel with plastic clips. The bezel itself is screwed into a frame that is secured to the headliner. Both of the two screws has backed out and causing a rattle between the bezel and the upper mounting assembly.

Same here. After my wife gets out of the passenger side, I always have to reach over and fix the belt.
It has become habit.
