The sun is strong here and with the lack of humidity it feels even hotter. Right now we're at 10% humidity. I'm bringing some cold weather cloths with me on our trip. I'm not taking any chances when I go up there! lol
Depending on what time of the year and where you want to go will depend on if you need cool wether clothing or not. Also depends how well you can take the cool weather

You got a spare bedroom and a house with a pool. Dave? ??
I have the spare bedroom but no pool here. When I bought my house I had no intention of living here so I didn't want a pool. It would've been a lot of upkeep when I was only come out here part time and never in the summer.

Anything under 70 and I'm cold now. lol The last time we were there it was July 3rd 2020 and up in Silverton it was low 50's in the morning and the trails still had a ton of snow on them. I guess there was a freak April storm that year and a lot of the Alpine Loop was still closed due to avalanches.

Yeah last winter was something else for what its worth. This one seems to a little all over the place too!! If anything there are a few trail books that seem to lead else where that others dont seem to hit much. I might send you a link or two for them

Just got out the mower and put the snowblower away. Its sure to snow here now.
Had to cut grass too as the grass I planted late last year was a foot high.

I have a multi-month road trip I want to do through AZ, UT, CA, etc, and planning to start in late December, so I can get north before that ridiculousness starts, lol.

Sounds like a fun trip and seeing as you like cooler temps the perfect months for it. Winter tends to be our rainy season but every winter is different. We didn't get much this winter but 2018 and 2019 was very rainy and you need to watch for flooding. The ground here is very hard due to the lack of rain so when we get downpours it floods easily. Just something to keep in mind if you're here during a bad storm.

Also, if you need help planning your trip we now have a new section Trip Reports & Journals. It'll be great for route planning and posting about your trip.

I am probably the odd man out on this one, I for one wouldn't mind if winter went on a little longer. I enjoy the different seasons but I live pretty large at -40. I'm already planning my fun for next winter.

Winter is over here in the southeast but we’ve had yellow pollen coating the vehicles for about a month now…

You wash but the next day brings another thick yellow coat of pollen.
