Great AdviseI figured it might be, and looking at your picture I see that it is. There's a set of twisted pair wires there. You'll want to make sure you use a similar setup on your extension wire. Those will be the data/signal wire from the camera. They're done like that to reduce noise in the circuit.
Just use a length of Ethernet cable, has 4 twisted pair and is RF shielded, buy a set of OEM plug ends and make a plug-n-play extension cable, not cutting any of the trucks cables.I figured it might be, and looking at your picture I see that it is. Not sure where you get your Cat 5E/6 cable but none of mine are solid core, stranded 22 Gauge twisted pairs, high frequency shielded. Most motorhomes and planes have plenty of it installed. All of the TV cabiling in my MH is HDMI over cat5, very flexible and strong unless it is a cheap china patch cable, quality Ethernet cables are not going to be an issue in automotive applications. Not sure I would use Cat5/6 for this. It is usually solid core single strand cable. Not really built to deal with vibration or any flexing you get in a vehicle and would probably eventually fail. There is a science to twisted pair cable, but you can probably get away with just twisting a length of cable in your drill and using that.
I want a synopsis of mine engraved on my headstone...Im not scared.
I have a friend with explicit instructions in the event of my death to quietly and efficiently delete all my browsing history.
