I purchased my 2021 Ranger in October. The backup camera stopped working the next day. The screen goes black and a message pops up saying the Backup Camera is unavailable please contact your dealership for service. This morning I had the camera replaced for a 3rd time since October. Checked it out before I left, Flicked the camera, opened and shut the tailgate hard multiple times just to make sure it didn't jostle loose a connection, no issues. Left the dealership and drove 45 miles back to work. went to back into my parking and same issues. Has anyone else had issues with their backup camera? if so did replacing the camera resolve it or did it end up being something else.

The work order receipt states they tested voltages and resistance on all of the pins and every thing came back fine. So at this point I have know idea. Its just really frustrating.

I'm sure they checked this, or maybe not, but perhaps the connector under the rear bumper is loose. Just a thought.

Hi Kyle,

What a frustration! Works at the dealer and not at the office...suspect replacing the camera again will result in the same outcome... I think the dealer needs to move down the frame rail and investigate other connectors than they might have done previously The offending connector might be the one just below the taillights on each side of the frame....I cannot say which side, right or left would contain the camera but these connectors are quite large...Then down the frame rail to the next connector... Labor intensive, but sounds like they are out of spit on replacing the camera...

Good luck!

Best,
Phil

cant blame them for taking the easy way out right?
At this point I don't know that they are trying to take the easy way out. i could see the technicians through a window and they spent the better part 3hr inside, outside and underneath my truck with multimeters before they replaced the camera. whether or not they actually tested anything, i dont know, but they at least documented it as if they ran tests
