Cool you can do that.
I'm crap at electricity, although I did rewire my Harley, all 3 wires!

So , the "projected path" in the line guides , is that part of the camera or part of display ? has to be tied in with the steering wheel somehow ? Just curious , Im thinking of moving mine to license plate , and most of those have RCA plugs ...

Factory uses all standard wiring and connectors, not AV line type stuff like with after-market.

Really is as simple as clipping the camera free and then tying in the extension. I just so happened to have a 10 foot 5-wire bonded and shielded cable sitting in my wire parts bin from when we cleared out our old police building.

They were about to throw away a gold mine worth of wiring (as far as junkies like me are concerned).

I figured it might be, and looking at your picture I see that it is. There's a set of twisted pair wires there. You'll want to make sure you use a similar setup on your extension wire. Those will be the data/signal wire from the camera. They're done like that to reduce noise in the circuit.
Great Advise

Just use a length of Ethernet cable, has 4 twisted pair and is RF shielded, buy a set of OEM plug ends and make a plug-n-play extension cable, not cutting any of the trucks cables.

Not sure I would use Cat5/6 for this. It is usually solid core single strand cable. Not really built to deal with vibration or any flexing you get in a vehicle and would probably eventually fail. There is a science to twisted pair cable, but you can probably get away with just twisting a length of cable in your drill and using that.

Not sure where you get your Cat 5E/6 cable but none of mine are solid core, stranded 22 Gauge twisted pairs, high frequency shielded. Most motorhomes and planes have plenty of it installed. All of the TV cabiling in my MH is HDMI over cat5, very flexible and strong unless it is a cheap china patch cable, quality Ethernet cables are not going to be an issue in automotive applications.

Twisted pair where needed , solid core will give you problems. Twisted pair basically cancels parasitic noise for the feed and return signal. Otherwise you can get unwanted noises and interference from other sources because they are not closely coupled to each other.

Have fun with your mod!!

Well gentlemen...

It worked. I am currently fabbing up some brackets and I used a trailer junction box as the housing for the camera. I had to rig the camera at a 45 degree downward angle through an existing hole by holding it in place with tape and then slopping it with rubber sealent. I'll try and get some video some time this week.
