Best way to not have Ford or the finance company shut your vehicle off, is to pay cash and not let anyone else have control of the title. If you do finance, make your payments.

The only time I finance a vehicle is if I can get a low interest rate, sub 3% because I'll make more money on my investments not paying cash. When I had a loan I would just set up reminders 10 days ahead of schedule on my bill pay.

I've never liked auto pay. There have been times where I've used it and later on forgot to stop it and they kept taking the money out. Once was a health insurance payment and it was my fault because I was so busy at work (working 7 days/week in the early 2000's) I forgot to cancel it and remembered 6 months later. That was an expensive lesson!

Or setup your bill pay to make the payments and quit when the loan is finished. I set up all my payments like that. Program in the end date and when the last pmt is made. I'm done nothing to do but enjoy the ride.

That works good for the average person who has money in their account. The last article I saw said that most people have less than $1,000.00 emergency fund. I don't know how anyone could sleep at night with that!

The problem for me was I never kept a truck to the end of the term. I bought them through my business and would trade them in every 3 years or so and never knew exactly when the end date would be. My accountant did a rapid depreciation so after the 3rd year most of it was written off and it wasn't doing me any good keeping it.

I get the low interest loan vs making money on investment, but after doing the math on gains over the term, I generally don't find it worth the hassle. 2-3% on declining ~30K principle, vs knowing I don't have to worry about anyone else having power of it, or me forgetting to make a payment.

You know sometimes I think it's these people who actually have it right. Maybe I can follow their example and start up a community which lives in the 1960's. That always felt about right to me.

Flock/Argus type cameras and the AI processing it all, makes internal tracking or vehicle connectivity moot for the most part, for city living.

This clip is what the US government allowed their contractor to release in 2012. Not just facial recognition, but similar recognition from over head views, such as head shape, ears, etc. Also other physical characteristics such as body movements, walking gate, etc. If they were willing to release this back then, imagine what they can do now.

This is not me slagging on USA. Canada is far worse on the big brother scale.

I was just thinking.

If this is intended to shut peoples vehicles down for non payment of their loans what about those who pay cash? And what happens when someone pays their loan off? By all means this should be permanently disabled but we all know that's not going to happen.
