Wow, There's so much wrong with this video.

First - Ford (or any manufacturer) should be able to see where they are and not shut them down while on the highway or anywhere while they're driving. Why not just shut them down while they're parked? I see major law suits coming in the future.

Second - This guy should've payed his loan on time. He's obviously not to financial savoy by paying $75K for a Bronco which isn't even a B Raptor. SMDH I'm sure he makes a lot of other bad life choices too seeing as he had the money for a sleeve tattoo (which costs some pretty big ) but with these type of people it's always someone else's fault. Pay your damn bills on time!

Not saying I agree with it at all, but just to play devils advocate… Why shouldn’t they be able to shut off your truck if you miss a payment or two? It’s the same concept as your phone getting turned off if you don’t pay the bill, or your power, water, internet, etc…. Until that vehicle is paid off, it’s technically not “yours”. Just like the bank will reposes your house if you fall behind on mortgage payments. Again, I don’t agree with it, but I can understand why they’d want that ability.

I recognize that’s a slippery slope to start going down though. Yes, you should pay your bills on time and face consequences if you don’t. However, I don’t agree with a manufacturer (or anyone) being able to remotely disable your vehicle. What if there’s an emergency, like my property is engulfed in a wildfire, and I have to leave NOW but my truck won’t start because it was shut off? Even IF I got behind on a couple payments, is that justified? Up for debate I suppose.

How do we know it's actually Ford, and not some shady dealer with in-house financing that will approve a 10-year loan, at 20% interest, to some kid barely out of high school?
Anyway, Lo-jack has been around for several years. I have seen many videos of people finding tracking/kill devices on the vehicles, and not just in Fords.

Looks like he's just looking for views. Shutdown is only available when motor isn't running and vehicle parked. Only startup can be disabled over delinquent payments I understand, not shutdown of a running vehicle.

I agree they should be able to repo a vehicle if you're behind on payments but this is taking it to the extreme especially seeing as it was only 1 late payment.

Once you open up this can of worms it's like opening Pandoras Box. Now add in all these Flock cameras everywhere and your privacy and rights are being stripped away with most people being oblivious to it.

I agree they should be able to repo a vehicle if you're behind on payments but this is taking it to the extreme especially seeing as it was only 1 late payment.

I'll tell you one thing if this nanny BS keeps up I'll never buy a new vehicle again and will be looking for an older vehicle (pre kill switch) to purchase instead.

Thinking this through I’m seeing some potential good. Let’s say your dealer/Ford is taking too long to resolve a warranty issue. The technology could then deactivate Farley’s vehicle(s) to get attention to your situation.

Actually that's what Cash For Clunkers already did. They took good/decent running vehicles and crushed them all. I just saw a video the other day where they're doing the same thing to engines. They're purposely making the supply of good used vehicles and parts scarce while driving up the prices of new vehicles.

If they can start your truck through an app, they can certainly shut it off.

What I did not see in the article was if Ford could turn the Start Inhibit on by themselves or just the owner and those with authorized access (family, company employees of a shared vehicle, etc.) could turn it on (after they subscribed to the service which is optional). If the Flock Cameras report the car as stolen, will the police and/or Ford just slid the Start Inhibit to on?? or will you have to realize the truck is gone and turn it on, and call and tell the police??

Same with Remote Start... it runs through their servers, but, I hope, some Ford employee is not going, "Oh, lets start Mr. Jones tr now, for fun.."... I don't know if they have that capability at all.
