With all the above said, I didn't really get going until Dave (@AzScorpion ) bought me a damper (in truth, we had a gentleman's agreement that I would buy the damper if he donated like cost to an animal rescue of his choice). It only took about the first 6 months of ownership to get there, but for all the "stiff" people like Al (@Texasota ) ;) who gotta h8 fun, this is a "Cheers" kinda place. Best of all, there is way too much "modding" for this lifetime, but it sure makes it interesting (if not expensive sometimes).

Everybody's different, every truck is different, every purpose is different...Cheers! ?

I am a potential owner. Hopefully the 6G Ranger Scab comes in the PHEV.

I researched the pricier 4 door Bronco. Just feel that the Ranger fits my needs better. The one thing with the Bronco is that I would have to load gear on the roof. The Ranger with the 6' bed, I feel I can get almost everything in the back for camping. I can also get racking that will be below the roof line. I live in an apartment with a 6'6" gate.

From this very useful site I have complied my future add on's wish list.

I own a 2011 XL Ranger 2WD, 2.3 L. Its very basic and super reliable. I just climbed under it this weekend and wire brushed the small amount of rust it had and spray bombed the spots. I wish I had put some seat covers on it. I have destroyed the seats.

Happy with the Ford Products. Thank You everyone on this site for very useful information on your Rangers.

I also owned a 2011 Ranger 4.0 XLT 4X4 with a towing package prior getting the 2020. It was trouble free and incredibly dependable. No major issues at all. I live in a dry desert climate and fortunately we have very few problems with rust. I was on edge about exchanging it for the 2020 considering the good 2011 experience, but after the fact have no regrets! I feel that Ford followed through with the quality standards that I found in the 2011. I think the SuperCabs look sporty. Wish you success with your pending choice.

I have always wanted a capable truck. My 2011 Ranger is 2WD with a limited slip Diff. It limits me where I can go off road.

I am not an Off-Roader but have been in weather conditions before where the 4X4 has gotten me out of a bind. My 2020 does not have a locker but does have Traction control. Have not had an opportunity to use the 2020 4X4 in adverse conditions yet. My understanding is that the combination of the two features (4X4 with Traction control) will be more than sufficient for most drivers who do not experience the extreme conditions that Off-Roaders do requiring lockers. I am planning to get out in some dirt soon to test the system. Also, if you can afford a 4X4 it will probably be easier to sell because of the demand.

That is exactually right Hank. And some of the problems are the drivers own doing. You have to cipher the wheat from the chaff. A lot can be gleaned from watching other people. And of course have fun teasing the damper people. ich lack mich weg. :rockon:
Trigganometry will be onto this one :sun:
Whoops! :facepalm: I forgot to include AzScorpian ?
See this thread got Damperized by the 5th post and I had nothing to do with it....This time!?

One thing I’ve learned about forums is it only constitutes a very small percentage of owners out there. So when people see there are “ issues” they automatically think it’s a wide spread problem. There’s 9,000 members here and over 100K Rangers out there so I’d say these are very good odds Ford designed and produced a great truck! Now they’d better have a factory damper on the next Gen or I’m going to have to buy another Taco!o_O:bandit:

I've been a member of several car forums. This one never had me afraid of making a purchase. You should check out the Honda CR-V forum. I'm surprised anyone buys one after browsing it. :)

Mine was an early build in 2019, first one sold in Tucson, Arizona built by my Buddies in Wayne Local 900. It's been rock solid since day one, zero issues. Pulls hard, goes fast pegged out the speedo on I-40 going into Flagstaff. Best Truck I have ever owned. I have owned a lot of new ones, my Family is all Ford Motor Co. World Headquarters Bldg, Little Glass House, MAP, Chicago Assembly Built Ford Proud built Ford Tough.

I'm 81 years old, and have been driving since I was 14. If I haven't missed counted, I have personally owned 29 vehicles (not including three company vehicles, and about 150 rental cars). Three of those were used, albeit one was a 1989 Ford Taurus SHO, program car. I have owned Chevys, Fords, Chryslers, Mazdas, and seven Hondas (including one Acura). And now, a 2019 Ford Ranger XLT.

Every single one of my previous vehicles has had at least one issue, all more or less minor, save for one with a major, safety-related issue. But in most cases, the dealer addressed my issues, without any real argument.

The one single standout item, about getting issues (problems, dislikes, fit and finish, etc.) fixed, is the dealer's personnel! Being a car guy, with both course and drag racing experience, I've heard enough misinformation coming from dealer personnel, to make me sick! As a result, my first consideration when buying a new vehicle, has become the search for a reputable dealer, FIRST-HAND! And this isn't limited to just the service personnel! It is a case of all-or-none!

I apologize for all of the exclamation marks, but the truth lies (both explanations) with the dealer! Remember, people put vehicles together in a production line operation, and mistakes can be made. Even the ubiquitous robots aren't prefect every time! So if the dealer can't make you warm and fuzzy, who can?

So before you BMC (bitch, moan, and complain) remember this; Life deals you a hand. Even if it is all mishmash, how you play your hand is everything. So drawing to an inside straight, isn't very likely, unless you have confidence in your dealer!

Hello to a fellow New Mexican. ?
I appreciate your great insight about the importance of a competent dealer. From my perspective, you are 100% correct.

18 months and 20k miles no issues with my 2019 XLT Scab ranger. Daily drive is 70 miles and haven't had the gas in oil. But i do change oil every 6k miles with the Motorcraft synthetic blend. Cold start shudder does not happen if i it warm up.

build dates:
truck = October 2019
engine = May 2019

still smiling when i want to put some distance between me and the distracted gas holes on the road. 10 speed so smooth i am surprised every time at how far i have pulled away.

Alan, My past vehicle ownership experience is very similar to yours...American (GM, Ford, Dodge), Japanese, European...Trucks, a Van, coupes, sedans, a station wagon and 2 Sport cars...every size and color you can think of. You are right, Dealership is a BIG DEAL! My Ford Dealer in the city is one of only two Dealers that I have purchased from who demonstrated sincere care and concern for their individual customers...you can tell. They allow you to negotiate and make a decision comfortably without pressure tactics and you can say no without being hassled. Got the Ranger from them for 9.5% off MSRP before tax, title and license. They threw in a paint sealant protection application on top of that. Here are some of their kudos which go beyond hype and actually translate into a truly satisfying buying experience:

I have owned a variety of cars and trucks since 1970. I do most of my own work on them, being a mechanic, but I've been pretty lucky with most of them. My Cosworth Vega was the exception, with broken valve seats. My Ranger has been awesome and has had no issues in the 23 months I've owned it. I suspect it will live a long life with no problems. I still feel as though it is a brand new vehicle every time I drive it. :thumbsup:
