How do you feel about rodents?

Good for you that insurance covered it. I have the same problem since I live in the woods and was worried if insurance or warranty would cover it if and when they get to the wires.

I had a couple mice get in but they come in through the rear underseat compartment (where the tire jack kit is). Luckily they only chewed up insulation and left droppings in the cab. I put the green poison traps in there and under the passenger seat and haven't had any problems since. Also no longer kill the snakes now when I see them. But I'm going to pick up that repellant spray too.

Honda also makes a tape that you can use to protect wiring harnesses. It isn't cheap, but from what I've heard, works very well.

I manage a vehicle fleet and our Fords get the brunt of the rodent chewing issues, it is the soy based wrap on the wiring, they admitted it at first and then learned not to say that after Honda's class action suit and it looks like Tesla is running into it too in some recent stories this week. I bought this tape and it worked on our 3 Fusions, after 2 of them had been chewed through for about $400 in repairs each. The tape is worth it if you run into this in the future.

I didn’t know that but it makes sense I’m 51 and never had a mouse in a vehicle I buy my first brand new one (2019 ranger ) and have had 3 of them get in this one thankfully I caught them before they did any damage I have put metal gutter screen at the fresh air intake on the firewall and have not had one dice but I am going to get the spray

I got lucky, they only chewed on the engine cover. Even more so I was able to buy a replacement cover off of Craigslist.
The truck set outside for about a week as I was using my side of the garage for a project. I blame my wife's foray into bird feeders (in the front yard so she can see it from her work from home desk) for increasing the numbers of rodents, etc in the front of the house. We have had mice in the garage off and on over the years, but never a problem.

Very long story short. A critter nibble on my 2019 Ranger wiring harness. 2 months later and $3400 less rich and she's as good as new. Enjoy the pics ??

Same thing happened to my 2014 Mustang. They chewed the positive power harness. Cost a little more than yours to repair. Only consolation was the little guy fired himself.

When we leave out truck unattended on camping trips, we tuck several stinky drier sheets in the top and several more on the bottom of the engine compartment. When we can, we leave the engine hood up. After losing AC in the desert from a wire getting chewed thru, we tried several commercial products. We found drier sheets cheaper and effective.

In, June of 2020, I made the mistake of leaving the window down about an inch, and had a mouse get in my Ranger. Was in it for 5 days before I discovered it. Didn't do damage other than having young ones in the back seat that all died inside causing the interior to stink, had to have the complete interior to be replaced at a price of $5400. Oh, the funniest part was the Insurance Company wanted pictures of the damage, I asked "how to take pictures of a smell?"

I've mellowed in my age, but rodents in my house or car, your days are numbered. We have a travel trailer permanently parked at our mountain, and soon to be retired as we finish our house. The first many years I was relentless with meeses. As time went on, I left them alone.... as long as they stayed the hell out. Once inside, they were on the short list for death.

And, yeah, meeses in my garage or car. You've got a target on your back meeses. Stay outside if you want to live.
