Horrible MPG's

Mines about the same as yours Polar Bear. 16 driving normally, 17 if I get out and push while starting. Less than 900 miles so far. I've tried 87 and 91 without noticeable difference in mileage. Gas has been 100% Costco so far and CA has SPECIAL blends. I've also driven in the city with stop and go 95% of the time. There are few flat areas in San Diego, except some roads along the coast. I need some long distance highway road time but wont get the opportunity for another 2-3 months and then I'll also get some fuel out of Mexico to see if that makes a difference. Maybe we have some thirsty injectors?

I wonder if it's something to do with the local gas. I also mostly use gas from Costco in San Diego and I get 18 MPG 80/20 hwy/city

Polar Bear: Can you get the average speed on your display? I'm getting 18.8 with 90%+ city driving at 1,745 miles from new and no reset from day 1. It shows my average speed at 17 mph. Only sport mode a couple times and pretty light on the gas. A little disappointed as sticker shows 20 city, but not the end of the world. XLT 4x4 crew (non FX4)

Yes. Mine displays average speed. I reset both that and mpg with every fill up as well as a true manual mpg calculation with miles driven and gallons put in.

Take it to the dealer, have them reset the fuel economy display and have them take it for a drive to see how they do with it. If they can’t get at least 22 demand that they fix it.

I am averaging over 23 for the past 1800 miles.

I do notice it. Drives me nuts.

I do drive pretty normal and like I admitted I take full advantage of the turbo on the on ramp and when passing. I've used S mode once or twice but with the revenue enforcing coppers around here I avoid that one. Braking is normal.

Define normal braking.

One thing I will say - mileage definitely improves after a while - it seems break in does suck some mileage. Mine got noticeably better (1.5 MPG) at about 3000 miles.

XLT 4x4 I just hit 3500 miles and I was getting 23.4 mpg city and 18.5 city stock but when I put my 2.5in Rough Country leveling and 17x9 Fuel Vandals with 265/70/17 BFG Allterranins I did take a bit of a drop in mpg at 22.3 mpg highway and 17.8 mpg city but I ain't complaining I still think it does pretty good mileage wise.

Last week I got 18.6, last night I noticed it was 18.2 mpg. It's mostly city driving (and standing in traffic lol), that plus I'm an assertive driver.

Both, daily... I actually didn't specify earlier....

I'm going to experiment with a couple of variables as mentioned through the replies. I'm at 33 PSI and going to shoot for 36 this week. Run the whole tank of 89 octane and maybe even go to 91 since it's in the triple digits here daily (book says 91 for hot weather and towing).

Not sure what else I can change.... If it stays the same its back to stealership!

The way you drive has a lot to do with mileage, does not mean you can't have fun. Another member of my family who shall remained unnamed thinks the gas or the brake has to be engaged at all times while I scan ahead for traffic, lights and will coast when I know I may have to stop or slow down. Sometimes you can time a light and never have to stop. In Kokomo Indiana if you hit the first light green and do the speed limit you pretty much hit them all green. But 16 MPG is not right, I would go to the dealer and ask for a check up.
