Anyone want to trade their prop rod and deflector ( the trim piece it snaps into ) for a deflector from a none hood prop ranger? Yes I'm looking to ditch the struts for a prop rod.

WHY? Are the struts going bad? I just have to ask, not being too nosey.

I didn't realize there were different ones. When I added hood struts I broke my panel taking it off and had to order a new one. If I had known there was one for trucks with hood struts I woulda got that one instead.

I'm an automotive technician and I hate hood struts. 25+ years of peoples hoods not staying open drives me nuts. I figured my base model XL wouldn't come with them and they did. One of them blew out last week and dumped oil all over the inside of the engine bay. I can buy a new set and expect to buy them again and again or get a regular old hood prop that'll likely never fail.

I work at a shop in Tempe if you come by I'll swap out for you. My dampers are dead though.
Thanks for the offer. I'm not under my hood enough to really care whether it's a prop rod or hood struts.

Same offer as I said above. Drop by my shop and I'll swap them out.
I have only the two "dampers" that came under the hood with the truck when I bought it late 2020. I'm happy with them as they work just fine...but thanks for the offer!

I’ve only had a few vehicles with hood struts but I’ve never had an issue with them failing. Canopies, yes. Station wagon hatches, yes. Hoods, no. Apparently, it’s a thing so lucky me.

Yesss! to spring hinges - love those older cars with hoods longer than the bed of a modern pickup truck.
