No updates here. I'm still waiting to see if I can get my hands on another Bronco front diff before throwing money at this Frankenstein idea. Fingers crossed that Dana just makes an FDU for Ranger.
Yes, the Ranger caps from the 16's fit exactly the same on the Bronco wheels. The difference between the caps is the Ranger ones have metal clips and they have to be lined up right. The Bronco caps grip the back of the lug nuts. Logo is glued on Bronco cap See pics.
I love the original silver steelies. Keeping mine stored in the garage with the 33's for when I go do fun things. Getting 19 mpg with the Bronco take offs has been nice lately compared to the 16 mpg is was getting.
Snagged a set of Bronco take offs check them out!
I'm keeping my 255/85 R16 Toyo MT set for fun weekends and using these Bronco take offs for everything else. My gas mileage is up 4+ mpg since switching to the slightly smaller but much lighter General AT 265/70 R17.
I haven't been able to hold on to a diff long enough to get the time to really dig into this. So I haven't tried the ranger axles at all. We had a Bronco come in with a noise from front diff and it turned out the left axle was incorrect. The E-locker front diff is slightly larger to accommodate...
The differential in that photo measures at about 25 1/4 inches. You must use the Bronco inner axle joint from a Bronco with an E-locker on the drivers side or you'll have issues. Don't ask how I know that ?.
Just eyeballing the M2XX I think the driver's side inner CV is going to have to be from a Bronco. Looking inside the differential the distance from the axle seal to the c-clip groove looks deeper. Due to the added bulk of the locking mechanism on the carrier.
I took this measurement so that I...
@Venom_z89 I am about 80% sure that the M210/220 will bolt into the factory location on the 2019+ Ranger with little to no fabrication. Will this swap potentially need modified axle shafts, modified passenger side mounting bracket, and added electronics to operate it? Yes. I needed about 4 hours...
I was so close to testing out this theory last week. Had a Bronco M2XX in my hands but didn't have time to pull mine out and take measurements before Ford called the Bronco diff back. ?
I've been contemplating this swap because I want the E-locker and gears. Plus my cost would be less that an ARB.
Hello, I'm Gary. Long time Ford hater that decided to stop being a technician for Honda/Acura after two decades and went to work for Ford then bought a Ranger. I got the itch to get a pickup truck after I sold my 07 Ridgeline a few years ago and sold my 92 Wrangler last year. My daily for the...
