RETIRED!
I thought that part of the OEM was a welded-in bracket? But I don't know.

I like the RedLine one, easy to install, I got the fancy stainless steel one and it's less expensive than the original parts.

Although I don't see any signs of stress, I would think the OEM is a bit heavier duty.

Here's my install with pics:

You are correct. I was hoping that there was hardware available to bolt the Ford parts to the fender and to the hood, but after visiting with Benny at Levittown Ford, the OEM kit that he has put together will not work for those of us that are missing the fender brackets and the nut in the hood.

I'll be ordering a Redline kit today. Just gotta decide which kit to get.

Bummer, the OEM would be nice (from a purist point of view) but it does sound like that welded bit is part of it. I'd never be able to tack it in without frying a lot of paint.

I think you'll be happy with Redline and it's really quick and easy.

And it has plenty of lift too.

I did leave my prop rod in place, mainly because I would have wanted to keep it and would eventually lost it in the garage.

Good luck! =)

Don't forget the added benefit the the Redline Tuning system raises the hood 5inches higher than the factory prop rod for more access to the engine bay. :like:

Oh sure ... rub it in ... yes, I'm short! =p

Sensitive? Me?!? =D

That extra 5 inches is wasted on me (cue the crude and politically incorrect "that's what she said").

=)

I think of all the deleted items , the hood struts are the worst ... cheapens the whole damn truck. . . I guess they saved 30 bucks over the price of the prop rod , if that ...
Shit I didn't even know the hood struts were deleted. That's some BS.
