Looking for any suggestions for a hitch mount cargo carrier to put an RTIC 65 cooler and a few other things on just to free up space in the bed when necessary on camping trips. Most of the options on Amazon are cheap and look cheap. Most of the ones at more truck specific sites seem nice but are expensive (comparatively).

Do you have a utility trailer builder in the area, or a smallish welding shop? EIther should be able to do a custom piece for a reasonable price.

Get the anti rattle bracket also. Harbor Freight has a nice smaller one for atvs that may work. Be careful that the license plate is visible when traveling.

Harbor freight. I've had 2, my 2nd is bigger , has a drop down ramp so I can drive my snowblower up onto it and take it to my inlaws to clear there drive. I gave my smaller one to family since I didn't need 2.

Pretty much all hitch mounted cargo carriers will block the rear license plate when anything is on the carrier.

I had a REESE hitch cargo carrier that I used occasionally with my Jeeps. But I cut it down to fit the back of my Honda Pioneer 500 since it didn't have any way to carry small items on the rear cargo rack.

Some mount the plate to the rack to avoid tickets here in NY. Ez pass needs clear access also for the pics.

If I had to do it again, I would probably get an aluminum one.

Just used my harbor freight one for a snowboard trip. Worked fine! And here in CA the cops don't seem to care too much about the plate being blocked.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Just split the difference between cheap and good quality, go to Harbor Freight store and buy one.
That's where I got mine, use it to haul my inflatable duck boat and gear, has worked well for 5 years.

I got my aluminum one at Harbor Freight, many years ago at a reasonable price.
Just big enough for a cooler or so (not the 4-wheeler ATV size).
It's served well.
(I TRY not to block the Lic Plate, but no problems over the years with the law)

That'll do the job. Some assemby required. I don't like the open bottom (mine has mesh) but probably won't be a issue.
