After avoiding getting one for 2 years I finally ended up buying a Hi-Lift after a bottle jack turned into a major project replacing a tire on the trail.
I don't want the big bastard clunking around and want it easily accessible - I was hoping someone had a method of mounting it to the inside of the tailgate at the top.
I do not have a roofrack or bed rails, I don't want my truck looking like it's full of thousands of dollars of offroad and recovery equipment - so those are not an option.

Who has a clever idea?

Drop the tailgate and lay it where you want it, that top panel unscrews, be easy to mark it and put some fasteners where you need... mind the tailgate hardware underneath... might fit better on the side under a bed rail if that space is open...

Or, use the factory screws already there(may need some a bit longer) and put some velcro (the good stuff) straps in strategic places to hold it tight (no rattles , can't stand them)

Or a combo of both maybe ?

Or get a tailgate panel with all the mounting places, but those are a few hundred bucks I think ? ...

Careful with the weight of those, you can easily be d the hell out of something not intended to hold the weight

Yep, there’s a forum member with cracks/tears in his bed wall from making his own mounting points for a hi-lift. :(

Shoot I do remember seeing that. Maybe I'll mount it on top of my bed divider instead of risking the integrity of the bed metal

Do you have a SwingCase?

Or find a mount for the top of the wheel well? Seems like that would be strong enough (maybe fabricate an additional support that can be bolted with the rear tie-down).

I know this is much shorter, but the case wil hold 65 pounds.

I never found a mount I wanted to use because of the damage I've seen here. I just left mine in the box it came and set it sideways at the front of the bed. Been there for 2 years and 20k miles. Can't see it because of the tonnau cover.
