Gorilla Guard II Wheel Locks

Installed the Gorilla 61631N lock lugs today. Fit great and they blend in nicely.

Only cost about $20.

Also, the trucks getting 27.6 mpg, it just keeps getting better and better. It has 6,816 miles.

I swear the rock sounded like it went through the roof..

I guess if a rock rolls of a passing dump truck and lands on your vehicle.... the roof is the best painted panel for it to hit.

So it's the first (& second) dent on the truck... So we don't have to worry about when that's going to happen now.

I called the Ford dealership and asked about touch up paint... It's on National Back Order, has been since early July... no idea of an ETA.

Some ideas I've been messing with in photo-chop

Lower side panel stripes...
  1. Silver (nice with your wheels)
  2. Red (more sporty and eye-catching)
  3. Yellow (no other yellow)

Upper strip...
  • How does this look inverted with the long side on top? Could go forward along front fender.
  • Red on Magnetic is dazzling. How about silver ?

Just like on these Mustangs..

But I agree, removing the FX4 emblem would look better if the yellow stripe was used.

Inverted, the door handle messes up the continuity of the stripe... IMO

I like the red... ties in with the huge tail lights and the FX4 emblem.

Did the 2nd oil change today, 7,534 miles, rotated tires (2nd time) and changed the rear differential lube.

One thing I found was the drain plug and fill plug on the rear differential weren't tight?

On the front differential the drain plug was tight, but the fill plug wasn't?

The argument could be made that they are pipe threads and that "tight" is just my personal opinion. But fact is... they weren't all tightened from the factory the same amount.

I'd suggest checking the fill / drain plugs on your front and rear differential. Snug them up.

I used some Blue Monster teflon tape thread on the rear plugs... since I removed them to replace the rear lube. The factory used a paste.

We did a road trip in our FX4 SuperCab, about 9 hours of driving. What I'm finding is setting the cruise control @ 65 mph is the "sweet spot" for good mpg, we averaged 28 mpg.

Anything faster and the mpg stars to drop.

Lumber Rack... first use.

We got to use my custom made lumber rack yesterday. It sure is nice having a flat surface and tie down hooks in locations that make sense.

Hauled some materials in the Ranger today
  • 18 sheets of 1/2" drywall and 3 sheets of 3/4" CDX = 1105 lbs
  • 18 sheets of 3/4" CDX = 1098 lbs
Made for a nice leveling kit

And the lumber rack made loading, straping the load down, and unloading a piece of cake.

Yes but every place you drive is downhill  from there. I can get 25 to26 if I watch it. Not as steep of hills here. 60 or 65 does make a big difference.

Our Ranger's odometer just flipped to over 10,000 miles yesterday.

10,000 trouble free miles.... well done Ford.
