I agree, something like this is what you're looking for. Tom Woods recommends NLGI 1, but I find that #2 is fine as long as you don't over grease, 5 or 6 pumps with the gun is enough.

I've had the Tom Woods driveshaft for a year and a half, and through trial and error, I found that it absolutely makes a difference when it comes to grease type. Calcium Sulfonate, like Tom Woods recommends, is key. If you use a Lithium based grease, at least in my experience, you won't get the smooth performance that you get with grease thickened with Calcium Sulfonate.

I used LPS first, and now Mobil 1, but I don't think brand matters as much and the type. Stick with Calcium Sulfonate and you'll be good.
