My smoked mirror signal lights have been a nice upgrade with the yellow LEDs but some time ago I purchased some LED versions with the eventual goal of swapping them out.

The lights plug into the bulb socket via a pigtail and when I tried them the connection wouldn't work. They didn't look too weatherproof either, so back in a box they went.

Ive been meaning to spruce up my connections to the turn signals lights in the Suma mirrors and put the new lights in, but it turns out the pigtails in the replacement lights are poorly affixed.

I was able to pry the housings apart since the adhesive was soft.

I actually have two sets so I'll be modifying the factory wiring. No turning back.

You can see where the leads were soldered. So I replaced the scrappy leads and then siliconed the wire in place.

They probably still need to be handled carefully but I'll see how they hold up. (Not installed yet, just tested with a nine volt battery and a free hand)

Finally slapped the lights in. You'll get an idea here. Not as bright during the day but not super obnoxious either with the moving lights - which I find a little distracting on modern cars. Frankly I'd been okay just replacing the smoked turn signals that got hazy and might order some in case these fail.

Looks great John! I installed the D-Lumina sequential smoked LED ones along with the smoked Morimoto side marker lights. Both of these were one pf my favorite mods besides the damper of course.😜

All the lighting projects keep changing for me. I'm looking into a controller to make the Putco emblems a little more interesting and because they aren't a high priority item it's just simmering on a back burner.

Recently I've noticed my factory LED headlights are starting to delaminate and rather spend a LOT of money on factory replacements I am thinking about taking them out and refinishing them as I've done with other vehicles. The negative is disassembling the front end to remove them and get at the affected parts... I can't afford the downtime for all that while doing other stuff.

That led me to considering aftermarket 'plug n play' units. After reading several forum member's experiences, YouTube and manufacturer websites I sort of settled on the Morimoto full LED models.

Since I have the Lariat with the chrome accents the model with the chrome in the housings but then when I was ready to order that particular model they vanished from their website.

Maybe I'll reach out to see if its a temporary thing.

EDIT: I was looking at the wrong vendor; Alpha Rex is going to be my go to
