I replaced the old flag yesterday! It's the only big flag on a mailbox on our street so it's easy to spot.

In case folks don't know, Lowes has a box at the entrance inside the store that accepts old used American flags so they can be properly disposed of. I think the local VFW might collect them.

I fly the flag every day unless it is raining or very windy. I go through a couple, three flags per year. Here in town, the VFW has an old post office box container in which you can place your old flags.

It's a day early but, Happy Independance day everyone. This should be a day of celebration for us in this conflicted time.

Twenty or so years ago, I had a wonderful Cape Cod style home that just looked right with a flag out front. It often had one of those crafty, seasonal flags but I usually flew the Canadian flag - you can see it to the right of the red door in this photo…

To respect and honour my American friends, neighbours, and relatives, every 4th of July and September 11th, I flew Old Glory.

Thanks Bob, it was tough to move when the time came. The trim is more of a creamy white than it looks in the photo, which looked great with the blue siding.

Funny you mention a day early. This is my town tonight - not sure why they do this a night early but they also do Halloween a day early too.

I guess the irony is our government won’t let us shoot fireworks, imposes taxes and wants to take our guns away on the very same day we said no to that BS. We fought and won that war..

Hope everyone’s having a great 4th! We went to the fireworks here in Bella Vista last night and they put on a pretty good show. There’s a small parking area by the dam that they open up for parking around 5:00pm and everyone said it fills up fast so we skipped that, we didn’t want to sit in the heat & humidity for 4 hours. We drove over there right before it started and found an area on the side of the road where everyone was parked which was perfect! No traffic getting in or out and we had a good view because we were up the hill from where they were launching them. A few pics from last night.

Actually it was way better than we expected. Plus once the sun goes down here it cools off (still a little humid but not to bad) unlike like AZ where it just radiates heat for hours. The last time we went to the fireworks at the Goodyear Ballpark it was 108 and around 6,000 people packed in there.?
