Well I finally decided to bite the bullet on Black Friday and get myself a brand new awning. It still cost me a pretty penny but for what I was getting I found it to be well worth the cost. The particular awning j got was the 7 ft Kammok. Before this one I ended up having a 6.5x8 ARB awning. Why did I make the switch? Well since it's really just me when I head out to the trails and camping I wanted something that was much easier to set up and pack up. If I had an extra person the ARB awning would have been more than enough.
With the Black Friday deal I was able to get the awning with two poles and an extra shade attachment. I have yet to use the shade but I found the poles to become very useful especially with the height of my vehicle and how my awning is mounted.
Looking at the two pictures above you will see on how much this awning does hang down by itself without the poles attached. This is very important and should be considered before making the purchase for this awning. If you're going to have a fairly low, you're going to want to add the polls to the package.
The polls themselves are actually pretty easy to attach. Look it in the following two pictures you should simply see a nice little thing that goes right through the awning and then you have a simple twist lock to set the height of the polls.
When it comes to packing it up it's a simple as letting the thing retract onto itself and ratcheting it up. Bringing it out and taking it back in it's just a matter of a few seconds. Definitely an excellent idea for those who are hitting the trail fairly often.
All in all you're probably asking yourself if getting one of these awnings is worth the expensive cost. I can help answer that question. If it's just yourself then yes it is worth it. If you have have a partner that's joining you on these adventure trips then you could get away without it. Doesn't mean you wouldn't want to buy it anyways because it is pretty convenient.
May I have the information for me. Not your call if you're going to go buy one or not
