First time in the dirt with this truck. Really impressed with the suspension off road.

I see your in Idaho....nice pics, and it looks a lot like Texas, with the open range and big beautiful skies, where I like to venture out to quite often!

Hi Kimball,

Glad you like the FX4 suspension....it has a proud heritage. Many here malign it but it show its colors off road...not so much on road and its heritage is a tribute to our off road racing knowledge transferred to the production vehicle. There is a thread on how the FX4 came to be if you search the Forums.

I like the FX4 off road for sure. Really soaks up rough terrain well. I do find it to be a bit bouncy (especially in the back end) on regular roads, though. I've been considering changing out the rear shocks, but wanted to get at least a few thousand miles under my belt before I decide anything.

I Christened mine on the trails out in Sedona Arizona right before we got 'Rona'd. Can't wait for the state to open back up.

I got some 4x4 in in a very similar environment this weekend as well.

My only take away is that I was a bit surprised by the amount of parasitic power loss from the four-wheel drive. I used to drive and explorer sport track with 4x4 and don't recall the power recovery being so noticeable when switching from 4H to 2H in the explorer like I do in the Ranger.

What drive mode were you in? The throttle response and shift points change depending on the mode.
