1st, thanks for announcing your departure? I guess.

B. I must live under a rock, since when did EV's become bad?

III. I am still hoping that Ford releases a hybrid ranger, along the lines of the f150 hybrid... I'll trade whatever I have in for it in a heartbeat.

EV's haven't become bad, there just not all that they are hyped up to be. Lots of hidden cost down the line.

I don't think it's that EVs are bad, but for a LOT of people they're just not ready for Prime Time.

With the existing infrastructure, a Hybrid or PHEV makes a lot more sense.

The PHEV will usually give you plenty of EV range for local trips and Zero range anxiety for longer trips.

My wife's next vehicle will likely be a PHEV, but I'm keeping my Ranger.

 i just had a thought... stay with me as it is rare for me lol. tin foil hat may be needed-
i wonder if some area or states etc. are using different blends of fuel in order to reduce fuel efficiency aka hurt mpg - in order to feed the political EV push ... is that even possible? I know it sounds a lil crazy but in 2022 the line for crazy has been moved so much farther out of view than I have ever witnessed. my logic is not perfectly sound, but if states that are leaning a certain political direction they are likely far more supportive of the EV push- that is a given. ok so i would not put it past any political figure or organizer etc. to scam or hamstring folks. a hella lot of money and contracts plus influence and control are on the table for the EV plan. different blends of fuel do exist. winter vs. summer for example. also not too outlandish to think the blends could be altered or watered down after delivery to the station tanks. fuel quality has a lot to do with performance and efficiency. idk just thinking. seems like some of the folks ive talked with getting the lower mpg numbers are in states of a certain lean.
Your thought doesn't sound that far-fetched, however, I live in the state where that would be most likely yet I average 20-21 mpg. Maybe the plan hasn't made it to this part of the state yet.

I mean, not much different than if you blow a motor or your turbo eats a bolt....

I only say that because a few guys here at the plant have teslas, ~5 years old, and they cost ~15 bucks a month to charge... One guy commutes >1 1/2 one way every day... When he drove ice it was 1/2 tank a day....

Are they going to replace every vehicle, did cars replace all horses and wagons in the first couple decades?

14 mpg? Almost hard to believe. I live 16 miles from my offce. I have a commute that is a combo of stop & go, some crowded interstate, and more stop & go. I am averaging 21-22 on every tank. Interestingly, on highway trips, since I have a bit of a lead foot, the mpg is about the same, 22-23. My truck is 4x4, which so far I have not had to use since I bought it at the end of March, 2022. I know anything is possible, but 14 mpg?? As to ev's, I have zero interest in them. Good luck to those that chose to buy an ev, but it should be a CHOICE and not FORCED on the public by government policy...

Energy costs are about to go up 40%, while gas is coming down, good luck.
What data are you reading on gas prices? Crude oil is up 3.5% alone today, and price per barrel is up about $10 from January. Projected to continue to rise through the end of the year. It may have dropped from the crazy summer prices but the data shows its starting to go back up.

Also energy up 40% over what time period? Crude oil has tripled in price since early to mid 2020

.Link to article identifies states following CAs ICE ban (all in) to date only NY, MA, OR and WA . Article does speak to MN plans - and states that MN relies on ungreen (unclean) sources of energy so forcing EV adoption likely not be overall effective in reducing emissions, do folks in MN engage in logical decision making ? I only know that in CO that the governing powers are retiring several relatively clean burning coal plants in the interest of greenness - but doing so it allows the utility guaranteed rate increases .

No, but current governments believe that should be the case. I think 2035 is a common date that gets thrown around.
They'll carbon tax you to death to make it happen.
By then though, there will be other fish to fry in the global conspiracies to detract your concerns towards something else.

That reminded me of an old Tom Selleck movie: Monte Walsh, he fought the change to autos
Well time to do a remake update with a story line of one man's fight against against EVs replacing the ICE . I think this site might be an excellent source for auditions for the lead character, after all the most successful actors are often those who can internalize the role and walk the walk.
