@Stumblios noticed that there is a fairly large gap between the bed and tailgate when it is closed. To me it seems like a minor annoyance if you have a tonneau cover, but what do you think?

I just went out and checked mine and yes there is a pretty good vertical gap on the side, but it is quite tight on the bottom. Will much dust get in ?, I,ll let you know when a tonneau cover comes out!

Several companies sell gaskets that claim to seal between the tailgate and bed, but a lot depends on how the two profiles mate up with each other. I've got one on my Colorado (with tonneau cover) and it is pretty worthless. Just never could get it to seal, and it lets all kinds of dust in.

My 2001 Ranger has a flip lid box cover. It has a vertical seal on the tailgate which was not original, I think it came with the cover when I bought it. Maybe the flip box cover from Ford comes with a tailgate seal which would be sorta non essential on an open box.

There’s quite a big gap in the tailgate. Has anyone tried one of the seals available?

Not yet, I think we are going to need one when the roads get dusty with that big gap. Havent noticed a lot of snow intrusion yet though.

I have a Lomax tri-fold cover and their tailgate seal. (Agricover is the company). Just need a truck to put them on. In production 5 weeks.

In will find it. I used the seal on my Tacoma. I decided to try this one since they cost the same.

I got that seal in yesterday and tried a couple of test pieces to see if it'll work (that's really the only place I could see to place it). I think it may work okay. I will get the area cleaned up with alcohol to ensure a nice solid attachment.

I think this Extangseal is like many of other mfgr's EPDM tailgate seals. Truxedo sells the same thing (expect 18' shorter) as do many other places. I settled on the Extang becasue it was 10' and gave me some extra for test pieces (tho 8.5' should be enough to get the job done).

If you read this maybe you guys can find the ultimate seal. You should definitely add one to your store.....

Here are pictures using the type seal that Geoff showed above. The same type is available from many sources. Be sure to try a small piece first to judge exactly where it needs to sit. I had to place mine so they were pretty well even with the edge of the taillight.

Yeah, I figured I would place mine right at the edge of the tail lights as well.

I see you mounted the bottom seal on the tailgate, not the bed (as shown in the Extang instructions). I have not looked at that portion yet...it looks like it might be better to put it on the tailgate. Have you tired a spraying the tailgate area with a hose yet? I'm going to install later today and will post a couple of pics as well. Thanks!
