FX4 Hankook Dynapro ATM Tires Dry Rotting

Has anyone else had issues with there Hankook Dynapro ATM tires having cracks form on the side walls pretty early on? I'm coming up on 2.5 years with my Ranger and it has 35000 miles on it. About a year ago I noticed small cracks in the side wall of my tires, but let it be hoping it was just cosmetic. Now there are a lot more and I will probably need to replace them. They have plenty of tread depth on them though. Anyone else having this issue?

1.5 years for the onset of cracking is abnormal. If you said 5 years and you noticed some small cracks I would suggest just sucking it up and getting some new tires.

I think I would contact both Ford CS and Hankook CS and see what they say. I can't imagine either would think that is a normal situation. Maybe also contact the NHTSA, sounds like potential recall material to me. Nobody wants their granny suffering a blown out sidewall at highway speeds.

Just curious as if you were a tire dressing shine stuff guy or not , and if that stuff is for looks or protection ?... sidewalls is a safety issue , maybe you could sell that angle and get some warranty or pro rate , I ain't shy when it comes to stuff like that ...

I apply tire shine on occasion but not regularly. I think I'm going to take it to the dealership and see what they say. Looking through the warranty book it looks like they will prorate the cost based on the amount of tire wear. I have to go with Hankooks again though if I do that and I'm not too confident in their tires right now.

Also some solvent based dressings contain petroleum distillate solvents that over time can lead to drying and cracking of the tire. Of course everyone by now knows which one is my favorite. Hopefully, just a bad run , can't imagine it's widespread , if they offer a good deal , I'd be ok with another set ...I'm never really off road in this truck though , most Hankook hate seams to come from off road durability, which they probably suck at , lightweight mpg tires is what they are pretty good at ...

There's so many good products out there now once you find one that you're happy with I'd stick with it. I like the 303 foam protectant and it has uv protection and helps prevent cracking and dry rot. It's a nice satin finish so no "Jerry Curl" shine like Sid @Msfitoy likes to say. ?

There's so many good products out there now once you find one that you're happy with I'd stick with it. I like the 303 foam protectant and it has uv protection and helps prevent cracking and dry rot. It's a nice satin finish so no "Jerry Curl" shine like Sid @Msfitoy likes to say. ?

Yes you can use the 303 Aerospace Protectant on tires. It has great uv protection and is made for rubber. I do like the tire spray foam as it's thick and you can spray it all on and wipe it off a little easier. Also the Aerospace Protectant will not air dry so if you apply to much and it rains it will streak. Just make sure you buff it out good after applying it.

I had the same problem with the continentals on my previous vehicle, but it was between the treads. Ford compensated the prorated cost and I upgraded to a better tire, Did not have to buy the same tires.

Yeah that's what I'm going to push for I guess. I'm putting on the FP Fox 2.0s soon anyway so I want to go with a bigger tire.

Offroad durability and the FACT that they are utter garbage in the snow.
