According to a secret source, (my FSE) Ford is going to have a diesel option in the very near future. It will be the 4cyl power-stroke that they currently use in other countries like Brazil.

Sounds great! As long as they don't try to sell me one!

That's cool but what's the advantage? Once upon a time when I had a power stroke because diesel was cheaper than regular...now its sometimes more than premium. The 2.3 doesn't suck when it comes to torque and can break way more when tuned.

You mean for this generation of Ranger, 2020 or 2021 model years? Or next gen Ranger?

Has a diesel been confirmed for the new Bronco?

"Diesel Jeep Wrangler:CONFIRMED!" about 15 years now... I'll believe it when I see it even though it would make sense. Glad I got the gas one first though, diesel is way more spendy when stuff breaks. :)

With sales less than expected, I doubt you'll see a diesel with this model.

Sales less than expected???
No doubt. Ford and Dealers wouldn't be discounting $5K off sticker on a hot seller. The sales are not even close to the Tacoma.

My home is in a suburb of Charlotte, NC and I haven't seen another Ranger on the road yet.

Well, first you have no clue what sales Ford was expecting. No way they were expecting to be #1 in sales with less than a year of production.

That is not reality.

Ford will sell what, at least 80-100k rangers by 2020? That's pretty damn good for a shortened production year.

Discounts? GM and RAM have big discounts. So does Ford on the F series.
Not sure what your point is. Top sellers and bottom sellers all have discounts.

It appears they are selling almost as many as they are making and they are still building inventory at dealers. From what I've seen and heard, it doesn't appear they can actually sell too many more than they are currently. I suppose once inventory levels come up, they can sell more. But it doesn't seem to be that there is any concern with sales levels at this point. They are getting to the end of the model year which may play into some of the discounts.

FYI, I've only seen one other Ranger on the road thus far - but I know there are a few out there. (at least a couple of them are members of this board).

2-3 months ago, $1K off was big.
Hot selling vehicles do not get big discount....period!
They sell without big discounts.
Dealer lots are full of Rangers.
Hence, the big discounts and incentives.

you can get 6K off a F-150 right now.

no hotter seller than that.

and no Rangers on lots within 100 miles of me. Dealers sell them before they get them.
