Retired, work is a four letter word.
This is only addressing the practice that some dealers engaged in where they would sell their priority orders Ford allowed them to the highest bidder . Dealers can get anywhere from 1 to 10 "priority" orders that they can put ahead of reservationist and they were basically auctioning them off to the highest bidders . They can still add ADM and also have you sign a No Sale for 1yr clause all with Fords blessing . Ford hasn't changed a thing to curb dealers adding ADM.
Well, then they won't get my business. I have never paid ADM or MSRP for a new vehicle, and only blue book for a used one. I am not in the business of being ripped off by Stealers.

I agree but this really show that Ford is only out for themselves. Basically the hell with all the Bronco reservations holders, let them get screwed with 10K-30K markups but lets save our own butts with the Lightning.

It makes zero sense what's going on as there's someone who just ordered their Bronco on 11/27/21 and already has a build date for 2/14/22. There's still first day reservation holder who still don't have theirs. I was talking with my buddy from back east on Friday and his wife has a second day reservation (#3 at the dealer) at on of the largest Ford dealers in WMA and still doesn't have hers either. So even the allocation system isn't working because this dealer does a lot of volume and a lot of commercial sales too.
My soon to be in-law ordered a Bronco from a mega-dealer in Chicago a few weeks ago and has a build date for this spring too.

I realize that but after waiting for 25 years for the Bronco's return there were so many waiting to get one. To have over 100K reservations in the first couple days tells it all so whether or not "it's their bread and butter" they still screwed everyone by changing to an allocation and allowing big dealers to mark them up. By doing this with the Lightning Ford is really showing they could care less about its customers and are only worried about profits. Otherwise they wouldn't have changed the rules with the Bronco and every reservation holder would've had theirs by the end of '22 baring major parts constraints. Now some like myself have to wait 4 years.
I've not seen any dealers in my area, large or small, that isn't gouging on their Broncos. I said something to one salesperson about "doing right by the customer" and his response was "Only a fool could make $20,000 more for the same product and doesn't price accordingly". I asked what happens to all the customers who are disgusted and buy nothing from them while the dealer waits to get that extra $ on the Bronco. His response was "I'll find more customers". SMH.

Maybe not for you , but it has proved to be so for me repeatedly,
Fourteen times over the last 45 years.
I realize that not all buyers have the same experiences , contacts, or negotiating skills.

You've done what over 45 years? You've compared buying through a dealership with buying direct from the manufacturer? I'm legitimately curious how you managed to do this, and how you possibly managed to pay less when you paid for the dealership's overhead. If you're just talking about the MSRP you've missed the point.

Absolutely, I think there was hope when Farley took over. But, that hope was quite misplaced. I stand by my statement in another post, "Ford couldn't build a kids corner Kool Aid stand without screwing it up". Before the trolls hit I understand the problem with suppliers, and this covid hysteria. But the Bronco launch had gone far beyond ignorance. And, now they defend the Lightning buyers while Bronco buyer still lanquish in the bullshit.
What I don't get is why can Jeep pump these out with the same parts constraints? I ordered mine on 10/15 production started on 12/16 and mine was made on 12/23. A fairly loaded Rubicon with all the tech so there must be a good amount of chip in there. The only delays I'm seeing so far are the XR package which I'm guessing could be the 35's are in short supply and the 4Xe which is the hybrid.

I had Hunter 99 my Bronco for this year but it'll be interesting to see what happens next year with it. I was going to leave it open but I figured with my luck it would get made and I didn't want 2 new vehicles this year. lol

Of course you can't buy directly from the manufacturer, you can't even avoid shipping by picking it up at the factory.

I just hope that we never get to the point where you must buy direct. You will then be compelled to pay what everyone else pays without negotiating. The price would then be fixed at a higher point than I would be content with.
Generally, I don't pay much (if any) of the dealer's overhead, I leave that expense to the other buyers who always seem willing to pay it.

Now, I don't care who gets the money, as long as I get a clear title for the OTD price offered.
They can pay their overhead with extended warranties, financing contracts, polyrazmataz and such... maybe even take advantage of the next ten people who come through the door.

I guess the key is never put yourself in a position where you must buy, and never want something so bad as to pay more than you rationally think it is worth.
I wanted my new Ranger STX for what I paid... any more and the "want" vanishes, so I would still be driving my 2001.

My time is valuable, and the folks who pay more probably also value their time greater than a few hundred or maybe $1,000.

Pricing will always be kept in check by the existence of several auto manufacturers. Dealer markups have shown us that the dealerships are the ones who tend to abuse customers, not the manufacturers. Have you seen Ford adding 25,000 to msrps according to demand?

Right, that's what dealership lobbying has given us--no options. Forgive me if I'm not as excited about that as you are; no amount of glee that I've saved money over some imaginary price is going to make up for the time wasted in having to interact with a layer of overhead which adds no value.

There must be a lot of bad dealerships out there.

Mine has treated me well since 1986, they let me take a vehicle for a day or weekend to try it out, they have sold me vehicles at fair price, they have a good service department that has taken care of me.

Find a good dealer and avoid the shysters.

No, they just remove stuff as they go knowing that it will pocket them millions by not including them. The list with the Ranger is growing

So am I reading all this right? If you buy the F150 and take it home you can't resell it for 1 year?. What happens if you get a lemon or are not happy with the truck and want something different ? Hope someone can clear this up for me. Thanks
