Retired, work is a four letter word.
In the 70's, neighbor kid in his parents Oldsmobile wagon, would turn ignition off, give it gas, then turn back on, that was a pop!
We would tap and install a sparkplug in the tail pipe with a old school coil plugged in, 12V via a switch..... turn off the key with pedal down, count to 3 and hit the switch...... instant flames. Or if you wanted a loud pop just run it rich and hit the switch.... Bang! It was fun being young and stupid :)

Unless it’s a very old engine with bad breaker points nothing should be popping when it’s running.

so i dont want anything to do with anything that sounds rice. not to sound rude. however, i do understand about the pop and crackle sound. but it think its a lil different. we always called it back talking or scupping or scavenging. some call it burbles etc. lt happens when running hard and shift, then pop crackle. the pop tunes are not the same thing. i would not recommend it if you want the truck to last a while. that said, its yours and doing what one wants with a car or truck is part of the fun! if you do it show us a video. we may all change our minds. these are the sounds i want my next fun car to make...
