Have any of you guys used the Ford Tuner? If so , what’s your thoughts? Guys are getting 50+ HP increase and 360 ft lbs of torque. Can go higher, they just don’t want to grenade the bottom end of the motor. This is just the tuner on a stock motor.

93 octane required for those numbers and results will vary

Super happy with the tune. It's like a different truck. So happy with it I'm buying a CVF downpipe and intercooler and a Roush Air Intake. Supposedly according to tuningpro.co that should bring the hp up to 350 and 400fpt. Total cost will be around $2800 with installation.

Bottom end will hold that power level easy. The Ranger was already pretty detuned compared to others with the 2.3. Think of it more like bringing it back to where it should be more than pushing it beyond its limits. Hell even the explorer is rated at 300 with 87 octane. (I think the 300 rating is 87, I know it can run ok 87 per ford like the ranger)

Also with the right tuning (and other mods if not boosted already) to avoid detonation. A lot of engines can hold a decent amount of power over stock. At least this one started life with boost.

That’s the thing, if gas was still $2 a gallon I’d get it.
The tune should in theory improve efficiency, but based on some rough napkin math with a decent number of assumptions, it still ends up costing more per mile to run the premium...but hey you gotta pay to play!

Yeah, I’ve been running 94 in it since day one. $2.18/L.

I usually run 89. It costs a little more but the mpg is a little better than 87, so it’s a wash. Or E15 88 when I find it that’s about 30 cents less than 87.

Yeah I've been running the e15 88 stuff around here since its the cheapest. might try switching to premium (only 91 here at elevation) for a bit to see if i can get the ecu to adapt to it, but planning on getting a tune sometime this year anyways

I found no difference in mpg between 89 and 93. Probably need a tune to take full advantage of 93.

I heard the conditions to get the computer to adjust are rather specific, so normal driving likely alone likely wouldn't see it. But yeah I'm not expecting anything, figure it would be a mildly amusing experiment (I've been kinda bored lately).

Bought my truck used but it came with the FPT. I've had the truck for 9 months and i always use 91. I Reset the trip meter every month just to see how many miles I drive and the mpg, which is always between 21-22 mpg at the end of the month. I use sport mode 40% and regular drive 60%. City 40%, hwy 60%. Conclusion, I would have never bought FPT because I don't believe the truck needs more power due to the turbo but since it came with the truck...ohhhhh mannn!! Highly recommended for both mpg and power!
